how did he come back to life? he was shot and fell in the water.

No he acutally didn't die. He pretended his death to let'em think so.

You can see Ricky Tan shot by Hui Li, the chinese priss, but near the end of the movie they are the best friends again :)

they're not so much unaware that Ricky came back later in the film as it is that they don't understand HOW.

It was staged, an attempt to get the police off his back. They may not have used a real bullet. He may have worn a protective vest. Who knows ... but it was staged by the him and the girl.
