You know you are a hopeless QAF fan when...

You think Gale Harold is the most beautiful man alive

Your cell/mobile alarm is Brian saying either "Good Morning Sunshine" or "Rise and Shine Sunshine"

You get giggly whenever you meet or hear someone called Justin and/or Brian

Your friends want to watch the show too just because you talk about it so damn much

You will never look at a zucchini or a cucumber the same way again...

You won't even let your best friend/soul mate/family member touch your DVDs

You can read these and other almost 50 funny observations in this link:

http://www.fanbolt.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-44238.html

Can anyone think of other "signs" that we are all hopeless QAF addicts?

You know you're a QaF fan when as a heterosexual female, you look at yourself, and you're not disappointed about your yo-yo weight, you're not disappointed about bad-hair day, you're not disappointed about your *beep* cramps. You are disappointed simply because you're a heterosexual female. lol

reply

Haaa, that's the best thing ever!

OMG! you guys have to watch this, it's The Ellen DeGeneres Show Clumsy Thumbsy portion, and in one of the entries is a guy named Randy buying a Penis for sale. LMAO!

I just immediately thought, in an alternate universe Gale and Randy texting each other.

Just watch

Ellen DeGeneres is my second favorite and I'm subscribed to her show's YouTube channel. This is one of my favorite segments and I had already watched the clip you mention but I didn't make the connection at all! Bravo!

Matt Battaglia, who played Drew Boyd, had a small role on last night's The Big Bang Theory as a cop writing up a police report for the guys after their car is stolen in the desert. I squee'd like the total fan girl I am, and everyone I was watching with was like, ?????? He still looks really good!

So yeah, I'm a hopeless fan!

When you become obsessed with buying a bed because it remotely resembles Brian's while you need (and are slowly saving up for) more important stuff to furnish your home and you already have a comfy bed!

reply

Maybe it's just me, but Brian's bed didn't look that comfortable! It just looks like a mattress on a platform. Maybe there was an opening on the platform that I can't see, and there's a box spring somewhere under there?

At any rate, I love his loft, and the bedroom especially. I loved how dark and masculine it is, the light installation over the bed (first it was the 8 horizontal blue lights, and later the orange, because I guess orange is the new blue?!), the louvered windows separating it from the rest of the room, the gorgeous attached bathroom. It was all just so Brian!

reply

I don't think I've ever slept on a box spring, my beds were all "mattresses on a platform" the harder the bed the better for me, but I don't know about Brian or his bed, lol.
The bed I saw was also like that with openings on the platform to aerate the mattress. Its only inconvenience, according to one of my friends who was trying to convince me that it wasn't practical, is that I'd keep bumping into its corners.

It was all just so Brian!
I feel the same way about the loft! And whenever I see a piece of furniture that reminds me of it, I feel like Emmett when he tried to live alone and his place looked like a cheap copy of Brian's loft

You know you're a hopeless fan when whatever happens in your life you can find a similar situation in the show to compare with your personal drama. I did that recently!

You know you're a hopeless fan when you have to look up "AgitProp Art", (S3, Ep 10), when Lindsay mentions it after Justin has secretly been putting up anti-Stockwell posters. I love art history and all types of political 'pop' art, but I didn't realize that there was a term for such a thing!

I learn so much from this show!

uhh, yeah, I'm a geek.

You know you're a hopeless QAF fan when someone mentions the L Word, and that alone gets you going on and on and on about Queer as Folk!

(It's the first time I hear anyone mentioning a QAF-related show and the person who mentioned the L Word had no idea about QAF... I think I scared them with my obsession).

You know you're a hopeless QAF fan when a friend going to the UK offers to get you any DVD you'd like (since here the only ones available are bestsellers and mainstream movies/shows) and the only thing that comes to your mind is season 3 of QAF US because yours MAY be scratched

(it works fine but I couldn't save it on my hard disk properly, so I'm afraid if the DVD is worn out, I don't have a backup!)

The most pathetic part of it all is that I'm really excited and can't wait to get my hands on it, as if I don't have the whole box set and I hadn't watched the show a million times already, LOL!

Hahahahah! Honestly, I hope we will still be fans when we are all old!!! I've been a fan since 2007 and I am not an obssessed fan of anything else ever since!

lol. That's perfectly understandable!

So, you'll for sure get the 3rd season? That's awesome your friend will do that!

On side note, I just got the other day the book I ordered- the companion book for Queer as Folk that has tons of pics and interviews with the cast. I am not fully finished reading it, but I just noticed that a DVD with lots of extras came with it. I'm so stoked! I feel super obsessed now! haha

When I get money together I still really want to buy the DVDs from the Rise n Shine Conventions in LA and Cologne last year, then I'll be uber happy!!!

When I get money together I still really want to buy the DVDs from the Rise n Shine Conventions in LA and Cologne last year, then I'll be uber happy!!!

Me too! My problem is more logistic: I need to figure out how to order and ship them safely! (When people send me stuff/postcards, sometimes I get them sometimes I don't; I don't wanna pay for the DVDs and not get them!) I wish they were available on Amazon or in the UK!

I just noticed that a DVD with lots of extras came with it

I ordered the book along with the boxset but it didn't come with a DVD. But maybe because mine was included in the box set? There's a Bonus DVD in there, is that what you got?

Brianwashed!

reply

You live in the UK? Because the Rise N Shine DVDs have an "event page" for the DVDs- Here's the link: http://eventqube.de/index.php?seite=event&id=63

But that looks like it's payment in the form of Euros. I live in the U.S. so I emailed them and asked for a link for U.S. buyers and they sent me this link for U.S. buyers: http://eventqube.de/index.php?seite=event&id=51

Their youtube channel is: https://www.youtube.com/user/RisenShine2012
That's where they posted the link to buy the DVDs. And the user had commented on one of their vids that their email is [email protected] and they encourage emails if you have any questions. They emailed me back pretty quickly. I'm sure they'll get you what you pay for and make sure it ships! Sounds like the shipping is included in the costs. Hope this info helps ya!

About the book, yeah, there's a DVD and on the back of the book it says: "Includes bonus dvd with never-before-seen material". I haven't watched it yet, so it's possible that the "extras" are the same as stuff as found on the boxset DVDs, because I do have the boxset too. I doubt it's stuff on the boxset DVDs though, because the sleeve that holds the DVD says- "Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes DVD- available only with Queer as Folk: The Book! Narrated by Peter Paige, from Showtime's Queer as Folk" and there isn't anything like that on any DVDs I have. But when I watch it, I'll see what extras there are and maybe I can upload it to Youtube or something and share with this board.

reply

Hi revansco, thank you for the links. I'm subscribed to their YouTube channel but haven't checked the first link.
I wonder why the bonus costs that much more than the others and I wish it was sold separately, so that we can buy a DVD of each event (because the way they're organized now, I'd have to choose between "Cologne and LA" OR "LA with the Bonus". Otherwise, I'd have to buy both and have 2 copies of the LA con )

You live in the UK?

No, but my friend who's going there for a month and who offered to get me a DVD would have been able to get it for me. I live in Lebanon (Middle East)

Thanks for the info about the extra DVD! Now I'm jealous! I love Peter Paige and I don't think I have anything narrated by him. But I hope you enjoy it

They told me the $99 one of Raw Material I and II plus Impressions DVD is Cologne and LA together, so that's the one I think I'm going to get because it will be both. That's what Raw Material meant- it's referring to Cologne they told me on the comments. So if you want footage from both events, go with that one. The cheapest is LA only. The next cheapest is LA + Gale Harold Autograph. Third one is the one I was referring to. And the highest one sounds like both plus extra stuff? Not sure though... That's cool you live in Lebanon! There are fans of QAF from all over the world. It's pretty awesome.

And yeah, if I can find a way to upload it, I will! Shouldn't be that hard; I just need the time to do it. I'll let you know though! And thanks.

reply

Well it's not really all that great: geographically speaking, it's OK but for the life of me, I can never understand how some foreigners come here, fall in love with the country and decide not to leave. To me, it's total chaos and a stupid, stupid people (generally speaking, of course, because there are a few exceptions but they aren't enough to make any difference!)
But yeah, it's cool that we're a bunch from all over the world. I learned A LOT during our first marathon and I hope you'll stick around as well

I like learning about other cultures and getting other people's perspectives. I'm glad you're on this board! I definitely plan on sticking around! It's an interesting board with lots of insight to the show. I still love seeing scenes again to pick up on things I missed while watching before.
