My biggest gripe with this movie isn't the directing or the acting or the complete lack of reverence to the character, (though these are all real problems) but my biggest issue is, well, the plot makes no sense.
The plot basically boils down to JB getting pissy because he got the bad end of a deal when he was a kid. The devil told him he stole his soul and he really didn't get anything out of it, but it's not like Johnny was really being tortured or anything. He couldn't die, which made him the greatest stunt man alive. Not a terrible deal so far.
Later the devil shows up again and says, "Hey, I've got a serious problem. You go wrangle up these seriously evil demons that keep killing people and I give you your soul back. You basically can't lose."
"NEEEEVEEERRRRR!"
So Johnny dedicates his life to getting back at a guy who just kinda pissed him off once when he was a kid. Later on the police round him up for a a series of murders that happened in the last two or three days, mummified bodies (a process that takes weeks usually) for the sole reason that he arrived in town around roughly the same time. So, you're in a fair-sized town in Texas and one of the biggest celebs in the country comes home from a tour. Two days later mummified bodies show up, IT MUST BE HIM! Drag him in and throw him in the drunk tank and accuse a major celeb of mass murder for no reason! Then the rest of the guys in his cell similarly beat him up simply because they recognize him. Seriously, you're entertained by this drek?
