This movie may not have a deep plot, and it may even have a few holes, but it is one of my absolute favorite christmas movies ever. I find all of the characters fun. I find the story amusing.

shareI am not a Ben Afleck fan and yes, Gigli is one of the worst films ever made. But Surviving Christmas is one of my favourite Xmas films. The characters are far from being perfect, which is exactly why I like it. O'Hara the frustrated housewife, Gandolfini the bored blue collar father, the weird adolescent, Applegate the estranged daughter and Ben Afleck the jerk millionaire. For me it is the perfect Xmas film, because it is not about happy, perfect Hollywood families. It is about dysfunctional families, people who constantly make mistakes.
For me Xmas is a period of the year when you HAVE to be with people you normally avoid. When most people pretend to be happy and jolly.
Surviving Christmas is not Citizen Kane, but still is a film that I love to watch
