Ever since I started fighting Baku with that dragon mask on, I've always thought this was the best Final Fantasy. It had great graphics, deep characters and emotional storylines. VIII was great and VII was good (if a little overrated) but this is THE Final Fantasy. Anyone agree?

Im goin with this one as the best game of all time. Got me hooked on Final Fantasy so yeah agreed this one is the best and doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

I thought final fantasy 7 was amazing, but there is no game as fun and invovlved as ff9.

The first Final Fantasy game I played was VII, although I managed to complete VIII before I finished VII but I have to say I thought IX was the best and in my opinion is still the best.
Don't get me wrong all of the FF series are absolutely phenomenal but there was something about this one which made stand out. For the PS1 the graphics and FMV's were exceptional and whilst the storyline and characters were lighthearted there was also a much darker side to it - I mean Bahumut destroying Alexandra, killing the Queen and Kuja destroying Terra, they actually wiped cities out in this one. It also had a good mix of humour and good relationships between all of the characters.
No doubt there are many out there who will disagree but one thing we can, and no doubt do, agree on is that the Final Fantasy series of games has made it's mark on all the gamers out there and will continue to do so for quite some time....I hope!
Yes I do agree, I mean I love the whole Final Fantasy series, but Final Fantasy IX is the best game ever made, not just in that series. The feeling...yes this atmosphere, the places and people, the music...the plot line...all just so gorgeous...stunning...I can remember it clearly I had waited for FF9, I had already loved FF7 and 8...and then I got that from Saturn - big shop for electronic stuff on its release date,
I had tears in my eyes when I was starting it and the birds and Alexandia, the princess, the ship...omg it was all so beautiful, never played something that good and you know I have played a lot already.
i beleive it is the greatest most beatuiful game ever with ff7 trailing in 2nd. and then probably a resident evil 2 behind that.

The locations in this game are the best of the series, without a doubt, in my opinion!
Daguerro, Burmecia, Black Mage Village, Bran Bal, Treno, the list goes on, and they all are so fun, and just plain great!
I bought this FF first, because it seemed the most interesting, and after playing this one, I bought EVERY single other Final Fantasy game because this one was so great!
I wish I could work with Square after I become a video game programmer, because I have their similar ideas. And being such a big fan, I could hope to make one of the best FFs ever. (*hey, I can wish*)

YES IT IS THE BEST FINAL FANTASY EVER!!! IT IS THE BEST GAME EVER!!!!(xenosaga was good but ya know once they changed character animation only Jin looked good, who happens to be sexy) BUT FINAL FANTASY IX WILL CONTINUE TO DOMINATE ALL OTHER GAMES!!!
shareFor me it was the best battle and fun wise, I mean I can play IX all the tim, but in terms of storyline (though it was good) it will never top that of VII, And I loved Kuja as a villian and all but once again VII dwarps IX's villian with Sephiroth. It is my favorite to play and enjoy but a true Final Fantasy elite will tell you VII is still the best one out there.
shareit is true that it has a deep storyline and i believe that the story is moving, as well as that it has a war element going on within it, final fantasy 8 has a war, but i find the main character squall holds the storyline back... it does have great graphics so i say its the best

If one more person says, 'You're just to young to remember the classic games', I'm going to shoot myself. I'm thirteen years old and have been interested in the FF series since I was two years old. My mom used to play them all the time and it got me hooked.
You don't have to be old to remember seven or eight. -_- Number six/three maybe, but not seven or eight.

My favorite is by far number three/six. Love the storyline, characters, everything is just PERFECT! Number nine is my second favorite FF and I guess five or four is my third favorite. But the best game of all time is Chrono Trigger. Number eight is waaaay overrated, I thought it was alright but I couldn't really get into it. Number seven is pretty overrated too, don't get me wrong, I thought it was awesome(Never played it, I only watched my aunt play it. I can't seem to find it in any gamestore here...) but FF fans worship it like it's the best damn thing since sliced bread!

first chrono trigger good game, probably one of the best rpg of come of all time.
secondly you can not judge a game in less you yourself have played that should be a new rule for any future criticism ff7 was that awesome, it was in fact better then sliced bread, it made sliced bread seem small and in signifant by comparsion.
and third you were probably too young to remember the them as been the best ff's of the series so far, ff6,ff7,ff8 the best. ff9 not the best. ff3 good, just got blown out of the water by 6, sorry.

i loved it.i think games like this are remembered because you feel like youre there with them and i think people want to go on some sort of journey deep down and this takes them on one.like all final fantasy games(x was my favorite for some sentimental reason because it was the last game my dad bought me beafore he died and becuase i just fell in love with ff.)
ff9 is beatiful and unforgettable and the final fight is amazing and intense and epic and i will never forget this game and neither should you!!!!
