The son was annoying
Am I the only one who thought so? I was routing for Vaughn's character the whole movie.

shareI know what you're talking about. But I think it's the movie's fault. I think that's what the movie wants us to do. Either we're meant to identify with him or we're supposed to hope the police show up, shoot him, then force Teri Polo's character to have an abortion. Then magically - hey, she wants an abortion anyway! Whew, good for the audience, right?
I think it was just the Son CHARACTER who was annoying. And you're right. I didn't think he was annoying. I think he just wanted attention. He wanted to do what he thought was the right thing and have everyone believe him. He wasn't jealous because of Vaughn or the baby or anything.
I think the character was annoying (a little) - for one reason. That he thought it was important to tell the police, or anyone, that the Stepfather killed someone. He's endangering himself, and for who? A criminal. He should have pretended to Vince Vaughn that he was going along with it and would keep his mouth closed.
But in the end - he did all he could and was right to do it. I mean, did anyone see The Glass House? Remember what happened in that movie? If you stay with the evil criminal parents, the Mob or someone is going to show up and get the innocent members of the family in trouble while the real evil guy just runs away and whatever he did wrong gets blamed on the people he conned.

I think it was pretty funny how the kid's voice changed near the end of the film.

WOW... Good catch... I just rewound it back and his voice had TOTALLY changed...
I didn't find the boy annoying... I just hated that he had a history of lying...
And yes, it's weird that in THIS movie you rooted for the killer... I can understand SOME movies... But, this guy was a complete whack job with NO redeeming qualities...

He wasn't annoying. He was lonely and rebellious. Can you really blame him? Adolescence is hard enough without the added pressures of your parents' divorce and remarriage. Not to mention the fact that your new stepfather is a psychopathic murderer and nobody believes you, not even your own parents.
shareLeave the son alone. He was genius. You're the annoying one, buster.
shareThe little brat needed a whipping.
shareDanny was a mixed up kid, which is understandable. You were rooting or ROUTING for the stepfather? He was a psychopath, so maybe you should pick better role models?

Lol, you're such an weirdo for rooting for him. The whole time I was rooting for him to DIE. Yeah, pick another role model, weirdo!
shareI think what "Incredible_brightness" means is that don't open your mouth and just think that you're going to be believed. Pretend you're not going to be a problem. But, secretly gather information, work against him. Just cover your ass first.
