Michael's feelings for Mia
Did it feel like Michael didn't start developing feelings for Mia until her makeover? It seemed like he didn't make a move until she got pretty.
shareI think he'd always had feelings for her, but there were some barriers between them. The first one was, Mia was totally clueless about his feelings, despite them being friends for years. The second [and biggest] one was, she spent years crushing on the stupid blond, popular guy, and was completely blind to any other young man's affections for her. Not to mention they were both awkward teens, so communication on that level isn't very easy, even in friendly company.
It helped that Mia gained confidence from her dad's letter, (because honestly, she was still something of an awkward wuss, even after her makeover), as well as realizing what a loser her long-time crush had always been, and having the humility to tell Michael sorry in a way he'd understand (the pizza with M&M's).
