worst Bond girl EVER

Halle Berry was the most unbelievable agent in any Bond film EVER. she jerks her pistol forward when she shoots a doctor at point blank range, she very clearly does not use the sights on the same pistol when firing at a target from 50 yards away, and she totally throws a knife like a girl near the end. i blame the director.

The worst Bond Girl ever in the role she was given was Denise Richards - hot as she was, she just wasn't believable in that role. Berry was the second worst.

reply

Both were lame as hell. Compared to the classic Bond girls of the past they failed miserably...

reply

I concur. I'm happy we never got a spin-off with Jinx, of all the Bond girls who could've gotten their own series they thought Jinx would've been the best choice? Why? Because she was played by Halle Berry?

reply

Berry was terrible. Ever since she ascended from the water in the bar scene in Cuba, I lost interest in the movie. She didn't really bring anything to advance the plot.

My top worst Bond Girls are Denise Richards, Tanya Roberts, and Halle Berry.

reply

But that scene is worth watch over, and over, again.

reply

She looked great coming out of the water, and from behind in her dress at the ice place when Bond was checking her out. But other than that, she was pretty bad. If they had found a way to make her mute, it would have been an improvement.

reply

Believable naw, but I was too attracted to her to notice

reply

She's one of the worst Bond girls ever because of her reprehensible acting. She's horrible.

reply

Actually, Lana Wood in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER was undeniably the poorest excuse for a Bond girl I've ever seen. For those who might not remember, she played a dim-bulb brunette hooker named "Plenty O'Toole"

Emphasis on the "tool."

reply

i thought she was only in the movie for 5 minutes

reply

Five minutes too long, as far as I'm permanently concerned.

reply

Her sister was pretty good

reply

Five minutes? Holy shit.

reply

Just finished it, and my first thought was to post exactly this.

reply

I liked Halle as Jinx. I loved Denise as Christmas. Lana did what she was supposed to. But wasn't the worst Bond girl ever Stacey Sutton as played by that radio dj from those telly softcore porno flicks, Tanya Roberts? (I liked her too) or Britt Ekland as Mary Goodnight. And Lynn Holly Johnson as Bibi.

Then again, there is NO such thing as a 'bad' Bond girl. Or is there?

reply

that blonde rocked my world
while halle berry sucked big time

reply

I don't like Jinx one bit, but she's not the worst Bond girl in the series. Just off the top of my head Christmas Jones, Kissy, Rosie Carver, and Plenty O'Toole are all worse.

“Note to self,” Charlize Theron said after winning an Oscar for Monster. “Do not become Halle Berry.”

You can see what motivated her comment – Gothika, Catwoman and X-Men: The Last Stand are not the kinds of pictures an Oscar winner should be making. Then there’s Die Another Day, where all Halle’s character has to do is model a bikini and get rescued a lot.

When we first meet Jinx, she’s an enigma wrapped up in a puzzle inside a mystery, a seemingly cold-hearted killer capable of carrying out an assassination and evading capture, but as soon as she meets Bond, she becomes a shrieking damsel in distress who can’t go 5 minutes without getting herself kidnapped.

In the movie’s second half, Bond has to perform no less than 3 dashing rescues, saving her from a rogue laser, a collapsing ice fortress and Gustav Graves’s getaway plane. (Note to NSA agents – do not become Jinx Johnson). Even though the movie was a huge hit, a proposed standalone movie featuring the character was later axed.

Jinx was listed as a "faux action girl" on TV tropes for these reasons, namely that she isn't especially tough and her main fight scene is against a non lethally trained swords woman. It's amusing looking back how much Rosamund Pike buries Halle Berry in this movie. Even at the time I found myself far more interested in Miranda Frost as a character and was even kinda rooting for her to beat Jinx in the final fight, haha. Brosnan's movies suffer from these bigger name female costars in my view. The 2nd half of TND became a showcase for Michelle Yeoh more than Bond (though she carried herself far better than Halle Berry here).

That is one positive about the Craig era. It is flat out about Bond doing stuff, saving the day, using his skills. They actually eschew the action girl cliches that hurt a lot of newer action films.

reply

Yes, Rosamund Pike was brilliant. By far the most interesting female character in this movie.

reply

I agree that Halle's acting was not great by any means, but somehow i still liked her in the role.

I also think Rosamund was really great. Also loved her in the Titans movie.

reply

Her acting was GREAT! Amazing how she pretended to add a ghetto flair to bond girl.
And also pretended to not know how to use weapons and stuff. And pretendecd to act bad to add realism. Osker worthy.

reply

There is no such thing as “ghetto flair,” nor “ghetto fabulous.”
