Rank Hayao Miyazaki Films (NO SPOILERS PLEASE)

A few notes first.

1:No spoilers in this thread, please do not discuss anything about these films, at all. Please just rank his movies you've seen, perhaps with score out of 10 for each (please no spoilers, no complaining about others' rankings, no discussing versions, etc.)

2:If you love any of his films, it's a pretty safe bet you will at least like any other particular one.

3:I'm not trying to claim to be a film expert, though I am very picky. I like to be entertained. I like something to make sense, whether or not it is fantastic or complicated.

4:I use a 10 point scale where 5.5 is a good average movie. So 6 is just a bit above average. (I would say that my 7 is a normal voters 8, my 8 their 9, and my 9 their 10, I basically would never give out a 10 (only done so 3 times, having watched a few to several hundred films.)) (This paragraph was just so you don't think I hate Porco Rosso!)


Finally, my ranking, in order:


9s to 10s:
Spirited Away (2001) 9.1

8s to 9s:
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) 8.6
Ponyo (2008) 8.5 (Absolutely the best one for young kids (age 4-6)).
Howl's Moving Castle (2004) 8

7s to 8s:
Kiki's Delivery Service (1989) 7.6
My Neighbor Totoro (1988) 7

6s to 7s:
Castle in the Sky (1986) 6.7
Princess Mononoke (1997) 6.6
Porco Rosso (1992) 6.1



I have not watched Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979) yet, I'll post in a few days where it stands.
