Girls- wud u seriously date a guy like sex-maniac Eddie?

Would you seriously date/sleep with a guy like Eddie (played by Hugh Jackman) in this movie??

Geez- given he's slept around so much for sure he will be COVERED IN HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS and god knows what other weird STDs. This means :-

-- He will smell (and taste) truly filthy because he has licked so many girls in their weird bits
-- He will be covered in FAECAL GERMS
-- Girls who sleep with him will probably get Cervical/Ovarian Cancer from HPVs
He is just plainly a hive of germy revoltingness..

Girl -- would you seriously date a guy like that Eddie if you knew about his backgroudn of serial sleeping with many many girls?

Speaking from a guy's perspective I can tell you that the answer is yes they would and they do. Many women think that the women the guy hooks up with are just sluts and the guy is now going to be different - and guess what that's likely the case. See, if they hook up and she thinks he's "the one" all that changes. Eddie hooked up with those broads just for sex, that's it. No connection at all. That doesn't make him a bad guy. It just means he was not strong enough to fight off the sex monster inside him. Now, if a guy decides he's ready to go down the path of being in a serious relationship then things really can and do change.

LADIES - don't kid yourselves. This exact situation is happening all the time. There's plenty of guys out there scoring with one-nighters, who at some point turn in there amateur status and decide to go pro. They say good bye to that life.

LOL. Maybe true, but he does seem to shower a lot, so he's probably pretty clean on the outside..?

Very true, but something like 50% (or more?) of men have HPVs and are spreading it around (even through condoms), so even if a girl only has sex with a few different guys, she will certainly pick it up. So, I think that would be a moot issue. There's no HPV you would get from Eddie that you wouldn't get from most average guys.
However, HPV only results in cervical cancer about 1% of the time - it self-resolves about 99% of the time. But maybe it would make a difference if he were picking up "new" HPV types from other partners and then re-infecting you repeatedly..? Multiple re-infection does tend to increase cancer risk. Hmmmm....

LOL... Yeah, and he would definitely, ABSOLUTELY have Herpes, so that would be the bigger issue. Icky. On the other hand, to date Eddy, we would have to be living in a romantic comedy, where STDs do not even exist... So...

LOL... I wouldn't. I wouldn't kiss him on the mouth, and I definitely wouldn't have sex with him (of any kind). BUT, if we could have separate bathrooms, I would LOVE to be his roommate. That would be a riot, I think. He is a fun guy to hang out with and he is very sweet eye candy.

i don't know if you realise this, but most guys are exactly as hugh portrays them, and if they all looked as good as him, girls wouldn't mind how many other girls he'd had.

Honestly? Yes. He was more sincere and honest than Ray who was just playing around, lied and wasn´t fair. Eddie didn´t pretend anything and I think such guy can really be in love with a right woman when he finds her.

He had boxes and boxes of condoms in the medicine cabinet. So, at least he would've been somewhat protected from disease to touch on that point. Eddie was a major player, but he never made any pretense about it. It was obvious that he was empty inside anyway and that's why he did it. The fact that they all meant nothing to him was obvious when Eddie forgot about the girl in the bedroom to eat Chinese with Jane and watch her do a cheer. It was like he was surprised when the girl emerged from the bedroom. He was more interested in Jane. I think when he tells Jane she'll fall in love again, he's telling himself too.

Most guys and girls have some sexual past. Maybe we were to believe that Eddie slept with 100 women. It really is a moot point because in this case it was clear that he was behaving differently with Jane than he did with the others, and most women would be able to see that difference. At least he was honest with her about who he was and where he'd been. That's more that can be said of Ray. If you ask most women what they want in a relationship, they'd say honesty. Eddie was honest to a fault.

Just because it is, doesn't mean it should be.

I never understood this until after high school, but the fact is that most girls prefer guys who are popular with other women. Girls tend to be very insecure about themselves and dating a popular guy is an aspect of social proof; i.e., if other girls want him, then he must be something great. Girls love to make other girls jealous. Why do you think that rock stars, actors and athletes can have all of the girls that they want? A girl knows that a guy like M&M must have dozens of women hanging all over him, but they want him anyway. Imagine the pride a girl gets from telling her friends, "Yeah, I went to see M&M's show last night and one of his bouncers brought me backstage, and then M&M took me to his room and......"
