Reminded of Kieslowski work

Does any one else was reminded of Kieslowski work watching this? especially the theme about second chances in different times on Red.

since there were some parallels between NJ past life and his daughter relationship with Fatty.

Anyway i don't think the style was all that similar, but i still thought it was great, too bad almost none of Edward Yang films are available.

Just finished watching this film and I thought so too! It probably reminded me most of Red, though certain parts were similar to the Decalogue and the other parts of the Three Colors trilogy.

I admit, I was a little worried at first, since I had read that Edward Yang was heavily influenced by Antonioni (whose films I just really don't care for) and while I can see it, Yang is much more humanistic than Antonioni.

I think I still probably like Kieslowski more than Yang, but I still need to check out a Brighter Summer's Day before I can make that judgement yet. They were both magnificent directors.

I can see the parallel you make, but Rouge/Red is so much better than this film IMO, as is "La Double Vie de Veronique".

The scenes with the grandma reminded me of Fanny and Alexander.

Ay-Yo Technology~!

Nah, Ozu is definitely the primary influence.
