Why Daniel is so into Bridget?

He has a lot girlfriends in my opinion, although he always ends up at Bridge. Why? Why does he need her?

The story was clearly meant to be a love triangle of sorts - 'which man will Bridge choose, between the two'? And seeing as Daniel is her boss, that helps to put their sort-of affair in context. Workplace romances happen all the time.

Why wouldn't he be? She's an uncharming slut who completely lacks every good thing.

She's cute, sexy, and not shallow like his other girlfriends, e.g. the "American stick insect". He realizes that she's something more, and he wants that, but he's basically a knob who would never be faithful to her.
