Did anyone actually feel sorry for Bobby?

I don't know, this movie sparked a sense of sympathy with me towards him. I know, he was an immense jerk who had severe anger problems and Marty and Lisa wanted out, but that doesn't mean he deserved to die. He had problems and his aggressive and rude behavior was how he dealt with it, like a lot of teenagers do in reality. He needed help, not death, and I know the film was trying to show the destabilization of today's youth, but I just really could not find it believable at all, even if it is based on a true story.

I still enjoyed the movie though, and it was entertaining and well played out per say, but I'm still wondering if people here had a bit of heart for Bobby and wanted to give him a big hug/gift basket or something.

Also, my whole outlook on all the gay themed material and subjects expressed in the movie is that I indeed thought Bobby had a crush on Marty, even if he didn't think he was gay. He was too angry and obsessed with everyone he knew's expectations and viewpoints of male sexuality, like his father, who if I recall was expecting much of him in life. He did gay porn with Marty and played it while he screwed a girl who he refused to look in the face, gave evil glares towards Lisa when Marty was screwing her and washed his hands almost like he was disgusted after he screwed the girls. He might have been going through all this with Marty, like the gay bar, to turn him gay.

I'd rather be disemboweled with a toothbrush.

In the simplest terms, he got what he deserved!

It applies here as well especially the real life version!

Yes, when it came down the very end, I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for Bobby. Even though he was far more of an *beep* than what you would typically describe as just that on a day to day basis, and also a misogynist for no apparent reason, but unlike many *beep* victims" Bobby showed remorse for his actions on multiple occasions in the movie, so as far the movie depicted, yes, I felt sorry for him when he finally got what he had coming. It seemed like they tried to do this thing where they'd redeem him for a moment, but then he'd just carelessly do or say some horrible thing to someone in the group, but all in all it seemed like Bobby had major control/OCD issues, makes me wonder if he could have been helped if Marty thought in a different way (especially had he not been manipulated by Lisa who pretty much wanted him dead right away) or if his parents would have done something (notice how pretty much all of the parents were kept in the dark about everything, the unfortunate reality)

Based on watching the movie alone I would say I had a lot of sympathy for Bobby, especially during his murder scene.

I also had sympathy for Marty, but not any of the other kids.

After reading the true crime book it was based on I lost all sympathy for Bobby and Marty.

Bobby was way more evil in real life, I feel like the movie would have had to run four hours if they wanted to show how bad he actually was. Like torturing retarded children and things like that.

And that actually happened according to the book.

But up until knowing the whole story I had a lot of sympathy for Bobby.

In real life he was just a pure sociopath and not cute like Nick Stahl. Nick Stahl is just really naturally likeable, so was Brad Renfro. Marty and Bobby looked like thugged out steroid freaks in real life.

The movie wasn't a documentary though and it's great on it's own. You don't need to read the book, but it's a fascinating story and if you enjoyed the movie I think you would really like the book.

I don't condone murder, but I don't feel sorry for Bobby either. It's like a Darwin Award. I don't say someone deserves to die for doing stupid stuff, but I'm not upset when it happens either.

Not at all! 7 Billion People in the World!! WHO GIVES A *beep* ABOUT AN ABUSIVE SOCIOPATH!!! *beep* 'em, he was a sociopath; someone like that is literally a leech on everyone around them for their entire life. They are like human small pox, just *beep* on everyone and everything they touch; he deserved what he got.

Idk, perhaps I am biased, I have had WAY tooo many run-ins with people with narcissistic/sociopathic tendencies in my life. Having aired out my disclaimer to my perspective(which I feel is necessary to understand my viewpoint), I seriously believe the only rehabilitation a sociopath needs is a bullet to the back of the head. Rehabilitation is not possible with a sociopath, put them down like the rabid dog that they are.

I will acknowledge the seeming sociopathic nature of my post. But, let us be honest, everyone; EVERYONE wanted to see that bully get killed on some level! DO NOT deny it, admit it! Whether you feel as strongly as I do about narcissists/full fledged sociopaths(as I do) is another matter entirely.. But, everyone(I feel) must have felt some degree of wanting to see the bully (at least) get hurt/killed.
