REVISITING 20 YEARS LATER: Where were the trolls the rest of the series?

I remember watching this sequence as I got obsessed with Harry Potter back in 2001, but I did wonder back then about this troll attacking Hermione being so dumb when the Cave Trolls in LOTR were so much smarter - why was that?

But now I'm rewatching this movie and wondering why these dumb trolls were never mentioned ever again in either the books or the movies? I mean, there were giants and Grawp was Hagrid's relative, but trolls like the one in the toilet never materialised again. What was with that?

They migrated to IMDb, which happened to open the same year as the release of this film.

Perfect response, love it! They couldn't shut down Hogwarts, but they sure as hell did manage to shut down the IMDB Message Boards. I miss them! I wish more than 10% of the contributors would've made the trek over here to MovieChat!
