This reminds me so much of Orson Wells Writing/Directing/Starring Citizen Kane at age 24. Both made their unappreciated Masterpiece's at such a young age. Citizen Kane wasn't recognized for the master piece that it is until 20 years after it's release. Freddy Got Fingered also took about 20 years to start getting the recognition it deserved. I recall in 2001 when I also was 24 years old thinking it was the funniest movie I'd ever seen.
On imdb it has half votes giving it a 10/10 and the other half a 1/10. All but confirms it's the perfect comedy. Patrice O'Neal once said a perfect joke should have half the room think it's the funniest thing they ever heard and the other half being in absolute horror. That perfect joke is this movie.
