I'm sorry, but you are wrong about the Germans not executing Italian soldiers.
Ever since I was a child I have heard stories of the Germans killing Italian soldiers after the fall of fascist Italy. My mother was from Lefkas (near Kefalonia) and she says that on one occasion Italian soldiers were marched into a cave and then blown up.
On another occasion a boat load of Italian soldiers was sunk by the Germans after they were promised safe passage back to Italy.
She says that the killing of locals only started after the Germans took over the occupation and that not a single local was killed under the Italians (they actually suffered far more from the Greek communists during the Greek civil war that followed the end of WWII, but that's another story, watch "Eleni" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089079/).
My grandparent even gave refuge to an Italian soldier until it was safe for him to return.
