Enjoyed this again not bad for a 15 year old movie
It only felt a bit dated.
7.5/10

shareI watched this movie for the first time in October and now again today and I have to say that I just do not feel anything. I mean the first time I was too busy trying to figure out the plot and the question I was left with was "Man, so much gas was wasted!" Second time watching this and leaving off from the first times "Oh and so he is an FBI agent and these guys are gang people" and I am still just confused about if this is truly a movie or a bunch of scenes crammed together to make a movie.
THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR. COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS HERE!!!
What is there not to understand? Yes Dom and his crew are criminals. The movie shows them taking part in different criminal acts throughout the story with and without Brian Oconner with them undercover. The reason they need the undercover cop there is because of likely how organized ans well known they are throughout the city hence why police have never been able to get to him so this is the best way to do it. It all worked out until in the end Brian let the suspect go and there for lost his badge as explained in the sequel.
Hard to believe it's been 15 years+ I remember when the movie was fresh. I still rate it 8.
shareGood movies are timeless (some more than others, of course). ;) On that note, this movie was everything to me when it came out. It was just the coolest thing. Now sure I started to take it less seriously as I got older (even before I foolishly began to listen to film snobs who hate franchise movies+most modern cinema), but watching it now these many years later, I have to say that I appreciate it more than ever. It’s as slick, badass, quotable and enjoyable as ever (relatively well-made, too). And man, I just love the nostalgia. I’m not like a bunch of fans of the original who hate the direction they took with the later sequels btw (I mean you could only do so much with the concept of street racing which feels dated today anyway), but the original was clearly more grounded and felt more personal. I do appreciate the more over-the-top entires that came after, however there is for sure something untouchable about the original. Many understandably call it a Point Break rip-off with car racing instead of surfing (I find that Reeves & Swayze classic to be a superior film myself), however F&F still had its own identity, if you ask me.
And yeah, this is 100% a product of 2001 -- and that’s great! Time capsules rule
I watched in on Netflix the other night, its a fun movie.
shareThis movie is almost 20 years old of course its gonna seem a bit dated doesn't make it any worse. Kinda better in a way gives a bit of nostalgia to that time. I gotta watch this movie again
shareI recently watched it for the first time in a long time. That and the 2nd and 3rd are on Netflix. I was about 9 when it was released and it was "So tight!" XD Man was it hugely popular with the kids in my class. Since it's rated PG-13, my parents weren't really draggin me to see it, but I did finally see it at a birthday sleepover. A sleepover that was co-ed! :O Not that anything happened of course. At least not to my knowledge.
Anyway it was good stuff when I watched it a couple weeks ago. Dated of course, but it holds up for what it is. And it's a pretty good action movie.
Really, it's about even with Point Break, more or less. I like PB more though, because Swayze is just great in everything, in his own way. lol.
