Did she really want Jericho?

There's a point in the movie where Jason Statham hits on Natasha Henstridge and rather surprisingly she's like "okay", but before they get any further, they are interrupted.

So do you think she really wanted him, or was just joking...?

Looking back, I just find that scene a little weird and difficult to interpret. You would have expected her to say "in your dreams" or something along those lines based on how their characters were developed and the story up until that point. Obviously at the time you think she must be joking with Jericho, but her character was always very serious.

I wonder if it was done simply to give her a sexuality, since her relationship with Ice Cube was only platonic.

Although I found that particular moment to be rather weird, I realized something so simple...idiotic even - who WOULDN'T kiss Jason Statham? I know I'd absolutely love to :P

reply

Who in the hell cares?

reply

LOL! You are right, I kept waiting for her to kick him in the b*lls! She didn't seem into it in the least. She had a 'butchy' thing going, as Pam Grier responded to early, so I agree that it was included to give her a bit of sexuality. Maybe Jason Statham's worked it out so he would take less money.:-)

reply

I think she just did it to get him off her back. She didn't seem to be throwing herself into the kiss much.

she wasnt into him but he sure was into her

In the dvd commentary Carpenter and Natasha were talking about this and he basically said it was like an end of the world kind of thing and she thought they all were gonna die so why not.

reply

i think she legitimately at that time figure what the hell, cause at that time they didnt really know what they were doing or if they were gonna make it and she figured like i figure any other person would as long as there was at least a little attraction there

reply

Sure she was going to do the whole thing.

People's values change when the chips are down and although the two of them would be pretty hopeful that they would be able to scrape an escape, they'd also be aware that that could be their last chance for jiggy jiggy.

I remember this one time, when I was out in one of the spiral arms with a mixed troop and we'd been whittled down from 75 to 7 and there seemed no chance of getting a dust-off before the Myxamatosans over-ran us, so we decided to take ten and catch a little R&R - Rest and Rutting. Well, as you can imagine with 7 of us, that just about made three pairs and a leftover.
Well, believe me, if I'd made it into a pair then I'd definitely have been looking to take my mind off the horrors happening outside.

As it was, I was put on KP and the most I managed to knock up was a half-decent Stroganoff and Rice.

Good Times.

Theres a legitimate theory out there somewhere about peoples reaction to danger and doom and whatnot, subconciously the instinct kicks in and the need to reproduce pops up to keep the line going..

Which is crap because it takes nine months for a little sprog to pop out they were likely to get *beep* over long before that.

In this instance, yes. But it still improves the chances of reproduction. They're more likely to reproduce with sex than without it . . .

sub-conscious reactions don't worry about details, they just express themselves. Also, its human to look for a little expression of closeness when in doubt of survival.

This was referenced earlier on. Earlier in the movie, he hit on her and she said something like, "Maybe, if we're sure we're goners." Second time around (this time around), that's what they both thought.

reply

^^This. Who wouldn't want a chance like that to mess around with her? LOL!

reply

What she said was "maybe I'd sleep with you if you were the last man on earth. But we're not on earth."

I think she would have had sex with him if Bashira hadn't fired her gun and caused them to go see what happened. The amount of adrenaline in both of them in that type of situation would make them extremely horny, and at that point its chemical it has nothing to do with her liking Jericho at all. She figured he's fairly good looking, and they are both in need of a bang and it could be their last one, so why not.

reply

I thought it was pretty simple. They were in a life and death situation and she just thought "might as well, got nothing to lose".

"Whoo-ah"

reply

^^Agreed, iffy. That's how she saw it.
