I was wondering, because I loved the first Re-Animator movie, and the second one made its moments but at times tried to foucs on the gore aspect more the actual story which was actually all right. So I was wondering is these movie any good to the others or dose it stand on its own. And no spoilers please, Thank You for any thoughts you might have on the subject.
Personally I preferred it to the second one, but didn't like it as much as the first. The main problem was that it was obviously shot cheaply in Spain even though set in America, which distracted me a little, and some of the actors seemed to be badly dubbed (or maybe it was just bad acting :)).
Otherwise, not a bad movie, but not a great one either... the last half hour was pretty fun though.
This movie is a riot. The actors are good, for the most part (although Dr. Phillips & his love interest ham it up... a lot), and the story is good, but the last half of the movie is completely outrageous. Highly entertaining. And if you see it on dvd, be sure to check out the music video, "Move Your Dead Bones". That's hilarious, too. If you can imagine crossing Rammstein with the Backstreet Boys, sounding like gay techno, then you're close to what this song is. But the movie is great. Special effects by Screaming Mad George are, as always, fantastic. If you liked the 1st Re-Animator, you'll like this one. I thought it was much better than the "Bride of Re-Animator" (I just can't get past the crappy ending). I've never laughed harder than I did during the 'bonus scene' that plays during the credits. I rented it & then bought it shortly afterwards. I actually saw this one before any of the others, and I was extremely pleased with it. Jeffrey Combs is PERFECT for this part. If you don't have an opportunity to rent it, and you liked the original Re-Animator, you will definitely enjoy this one & find that it was a good buy.
Rammstein? No, it doesn't have any of Rammstein's hard edge, but "gay techno" hits the nail on the head. Very similar to the Pet Shop Boys, but they never had any videos about reanimating the dead, as if it were the latest party craze. Hilarious. Anyway, you know what you're getting into with this movie, it's fun and definitely worthwhile. My wife and I both enjoyed it a lot (there's your second opinion). I can't see anyone who liked either of the first two not having a good time with this.
If you liked the first, you would probably like this one as well. Jeffrey Combs is perfect in his role, and the movie contains the same type of humor as the first movies. Many hillarious scenes.
Its really funny; the Spanish ators are distracting and the villain looks like Paul and Barry chuckle melded into one being but the funked-up Psycho/Re-animater theme is even better this time round and West's nonchalant "it wasn't my fault" expression at the end is a hoot.
Disappointing. Its way below the quality of the first two. You can tell it was made in Spain, because almost everyone except for Combs, is Latin. It was just less engrossing and interesting.Had some funny moments, but not as funny as the first two. Not bad tho, i gave it a five.
This film is a joke. It has to be. I am madly in love with the first and i dug the second one but this is out of control. Brian Yuzna must be half retarded on meth these days to make a movie like this. The only redeeming element is jeffrey combs and he can only work with what he's been given.
this movie is shot in spain, because it's hard to get these kind of films made in the states nowadays. it's mostly the mainstream horror that gets all the financial backup, real horrordirectors need to find their backup elsewhere(outside the states, europe). it sucks, but it's like that.
Not having watched the first two (my video store has a highly random selection of movies older than 5 years), I can't say how it compares to prequels, but I can say that I thought it was an excellent movie, well made and hilarious in places. It is because of this film that I plan to buy the whole series. Jeffery Combs seriously took this film from being good to being great, IMHO.
"Let's get down to brass tacks here - how much for the ape?"
uneven really...there are some moments and the basic plot is fairly decent but the film just doesn't seem to juggle the horror and the humor very well were as in some moments it's dark humor suddenly jumps into slapstick...were as the humor was very well blanced in the first 2...also other then West the characters aren't very good.....well the worden was okay but was not replacement for dr. Hill......give it a rent....but i really can recommend anymore then that.
