One thing that bothered me

I love this movie, I give it a 9/10, but the one thing that bugged the crap outta me was that David killed the kidnapper. I dunno, I just always thought the thing that seperated a superhero from a supervillian was that they didn't just kill people. They have MERCY. I mean, I think David had the strength to maybe knock the guy unconscious or something without killing him. That just bugged me.

Question for you (don't worry, I'm not some mean IMDBer) would you rather him kill him or knock him out so he's uncontious with the risk of him waking up and attacking again? This guy killed the two parents of the family and even worse raped the mother (implied) and probably the children and those children will be scarred for the rest of their lives. It would be better if the kids saw the man as an "Angel" and angels kill demons.

what bothered me was why he didnt call the cops to check out the house instead.

also how long was the guy dead for? wouldnt his office be looking for him if he was out for a while?

reply

Maybe because cops take too damn long to respond to 911 calls.

What really bothered me was that he let that guy who raped the woman while drunk(or drugged, i don't know) get away with it instead of confronting him somehow. That home invader probably took priority, but I still think he could have dealt with the other guy while he was there. Gone over to him and say that he knows what he did for example. It might have looked awkward, but hey it's not illegal, unlike what that guy did. I haven't seen this discussed.

There are actually many "heroes" that kill their foes. You seem to be pretty unfamiliar with superheroes.

I thought him killing the guy was important and the perfect way to go for this reason: This film was a realistic take on a superhero and giving the hero some kind of no killing code like Superman is not very realistic. In that situation killing the guy seemed to be the appropriate thing to do.

Depends on what hero. A lot of heroes have killed in comics

Punisher
Green lantern
Wonder Woman
X-men

Anyway I always thought that he only chocked him out.

Here's my two cents in. David had to kill him reasons being:
1. He wasn't strong enough or trained, yet to knock him out, and mind you that guy was bigger and stronger than David. One needs to train and develop fighting skills to knock someone out bare-handedly. David probably never worked out after the car accident episode, until the benching scene. Even superheros need training.

2. That man tried to kill David and he was about to rape the dead wife, Again!!!! Any one's first instinct would be to kill the threat asap for self defense.

3. That guy seriously deserved it. He did not deserve to go to jail. He deserved death penalty.

What I LOVED that he killed him! That scene was so satisfying to watch.
