Is benching that much a lot?

He starts off benching 250, and that was more than he had ever benched before? Is that a lot for someone for a regular dude? How about for someone who was this close to being on his way to being a pro football player?

And what about when he benches 350 - is that a lot? I honestly don't know.

Thanks.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

For body-builders, it's about standard but for someone working out just to try and stay in shape, it's pretty impressive.

I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in.

Even 250 lbs. is impressive but it also depends on your weight and training history. I was a power-lifter in my senior year of high school because I had been training since mid-sophomore year. I only weighed 150 lbs. yet I could bench press just about 280 lbs. That's almost twice as much as my body weight, which is considered impressive. Not that I could do it now... Even without taking steroids like a lot of the other power-lifters did, I was very close to breaking every record in every category- none of which could have been done without a LOT of training. So for David Dunn to bench 250 without much practice and for his size was very good, 350 was outstanding.

what they said...but also the amount isnt the only important detail...usually when someone thinks their maxing out at a certain amount of weight....they dont end up being able to handle another 100 pounds....so i think it had more to do with explaining how someone can not know they have superpowers by suggesting/showing he can only lift what he tries...so if a normal person struggles to lift 250 they naturally assume they reached their max...this scene shows that when hes not aware of what hes lifting(son tricked him) he can lift more...and more...and more it was just a matter of trying...which naturally he didnt cause he struggled at 250..........it was actually more about actual limits vs. perceived limits and how it affected his understanding of his abilities(or lack thereof)...subtly clever in an underrated way if you ask me

Oh great, now it's my dick that's killing me

Yes it`s impressive for a guy who never benched before.

First thing you have to learn when benching is the technique, you waste lot of power even when benching something like 120 lb if you don`t know how to handle the barbell.

What i found fascinating in that scene was that He could have lifted much more--350 --550..If He only would have started with those weights.

Try going out and lifting 350 pounds. Then imagine using one muscle group to do it. It's quite a bit of weight.

For someone like him who just benches from time to time, yeah it's impressive he can do 250. I bench 250 at the moment and I work out more often than a security guard going through marital problems.

350 is what the dedicated lifters who live/breathe fitness should put up. Most of the people you see in the gym working with this type of weight will be on roids, but it's possible naturally.

I just watched the deleted scene that shows David using the weightlifting equipment at the stadium.

It is interesting to show a continuation of the home weightlifting scene though I am glad they didnt include it in the final cut.
