Anyone else experience Irish hate today?

My dad hated the Irish with a passion. I even remember him actually calling them the n word once. I'm proud to be Irish though, and if someone has a problem with it, they can meet my Irish fist.

What about you guys?

Your not irish mate your american. You have never been to ireland, you dont know what ireland is like or what the irish are like. Stop trying to be irish because down the line you had ancestors who sailed from ireland to america.

That goes for all americans claiming to be irish and proud to be irish etc, stop embaressing yourself. I am irish and we are absolutely nothing alike, if i told you the town i live in you wouldn't have a clue where it was or probably be able to find it on a map. You likely dont even have a passport because you are all too arragant to leave your fat country and your stupid flag for 2 weeks vacation.

funny thing about the Irish is they blame the English for a lot when it was the latter who forced English on them and that helped them prosper in the USA. Without that, they would have had a much tougher time.

Christ, no one's pretending that they're off the boat here. It's just how people think here.

Maybe it stems from being a mongrel country with no real American identity. Or maybe from way back when people were living in ghettos with their own kind. I don't know, but the fact is, people call themselves Irish, and the guy down the street, Italian, and the other guy French, based mostly now on the origin of their last names.

I don't do any of this, I'm so far removed from any European ancestors, and have no plans on going over - but this is how a lot of people see themselves and others.

Take it easy - not many of the US posters here, calling themselves Irish have any delusions of a connection to you or give a sh!t about your town.

that's messed up, your dad referring to the Irish as the N word. I mean black people aren't all fall down drunks, its not fair to compare them to the Irish.

i told you not to stop the boat. Now lets go. Apocaylpse Now

I think your dad just hated you, dude. If he married an Irish woman, he clearly wasn't that passionate about hating the Irish.
