Nothing Like Growing Up in the Early 2000s
Okay, I watched this show when it was on, like every other 11 year old kid at the time.
This was nothing like growing up in the early 2000s. It felt like, what someone who grew up in the 80s thinks growing up in the early 2000s was like. Just like when anyone makes a Sitcom about kids.
Full House was on in the early 90s yet they all dress, and act like its 1982 for the entire show.
That 70s Show: Another prime example . It's set in the 70s, but they act nothing like 70s kids. They act like 2000's kids. Ashton Kutcher yelling "SICK BURN" all the time. The only thing 70s are the clothes. Everything about how they act is early 2000s.
Malcom is the reverse. Set in (then) modern times but written 20 years out of date.
Here's what it was REALLY like in the early 2000s: Sitting around the computer or the Gamecube or Xbox.... playng some game no one is that interested in.. not saying much. And as for parties, no one dances at parties. Everyone stands around and looks miserable. That's what a party is.
Malcom has like 3 girlfriends during the course of middle school and he's a nerd. What are the chances of that. In 2002? None of it makes sense. It's all written by old 35+ year old TV writers who grew up in the 80s, trying to write what they think being a kid is like in 2002, when they really have no idea.
This show has absolutely zero resemblence to what it was like growing up in the 2000s.
