Yeah, I'm not sure how some Jason fans couldn't like this movie once they see it...I mean it's the f^cking first two Alien movies (more so Aliens), but with Jason.

I agree with OP. I am not a Jason fanatic, I love the "Halloween" movies more than FT13. This one and Jason Goes To Hell are my faves of this series.

Exactly. I am huge "Halloween" fan but do enjoy some of the FT13 films. Love the first two and enjoy "Jason goes to Hell" and "Jason X". People get so worked up about Jason X. It's stupid fun. And even though many in the cast can't act very well they are at the very least likable.

You liked this drivel/insult to the series? Yet you call In The Mouth Of Madness awful? You are scum.

"insult to the series" ?!

Why do you view it as an insult ?

Cracking start, cracking end, and in between Jason was our Jason and did some cracking Jason stuff.

Ok it WAS set in the future and in space, but is that your only icky thing about the movie ?

I liked it too but it's the kind of movie (with Jason Takes Manhattan and Freddy vs. Jason) that gets riffed by the cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

It had some REALLY awesome carnage and it's definitely better than Freddy vs. Jason. It had more practical effects too even though it's set in outer space.

The original premise of the series is so tired (as the remake proved) that a post-modern pastiche like this was the only way to go. There are enough good, fun, dumb-but-clever elements in this to make it worth watching.

I honestly don't get why this is the movie people started taking this series so seriously with. The dialogue has never been that great, neither has the acting. I actually thought this film had the best ensemble, most characters in the series pretty much only existed to get killed with no development.

And plot holes, well, the franchise started off with a huge plot hole- how exactly did Jason survive drowning and just happen to be there the night his mother was beheaded and not attack then? How does his face completely change several times over the course of a few days (Fridays 2-4)?

As for not taking itself seriously, Jason Lives was the first movie to parody itself. Plus, when he's a zombie, how does he keep up with people running at full speed?

No, it wasn't the old school 4; but it kept in with a trend started in 6 (which makes sense, because that's the Jason they have in the film). It wasn't the movie to start being ridiculous, 5 had the over the top death scene with the annoying kid and the father who copycatted Jason's killing spree for really no rational reason.

It's a fun movie. It just happened to come out when people stopped having fun with movies and started taking on purist attitudes to boost their egos on internet debates.
