The worst in the trilogy

In my opinion, The Mummy Returns is the worst of the series. The Mummy combined some quite good horror with some very good jokes, while Tomb of the Dragon Emperor made up for its deficiencies in humour and character with stunning visuals and a more serious tone.

The Mummy Returns just wasn't very funny, and the storyline wasn't engaging. I found the antics of the kid messing with the cultists tiring, and the Scorpion King was some of the worst CGI I have ever seen in a mainstream film. Some nice scenes in Ancient Egypt, but overall a poor film.

Rachel Weisz was fine, though, and I'm not just referring to her acting.

I'm sorry, but you've got to be kidding!!

Did you SEE the third film??? Or perhaps a more pertinent question would be, were you sober when you saw the third film? Because otherwise I don't understand how anyone could think Dragon Emperor superior to The Mummy Returns in ANY way.

Where shall I start? The CGI fireball emperor mummy concoction that made absolutely no sense? How about Maria Bello's cringeworthy English accent...and just the fact that she wasn't Rachel Weisz? (!!!) Or how about the fact that somehow Alex had magically become full-blown American after having a completely English accent in TMR?? And of course, the ultimate....the yetis?!!!

To say the third movie had ANY merit, much less that it was BETTER than The Mummy Returns, is blatantly ridiculous. I'm sorry, but it is.

The late Roger Ebert's ghost says hi.

You have not seen three if you think Mummy Returns is the worst.

reply

Sorry, but I have seen all three at varying points in my life, and if you want to know my thoughts, check out the late Roger Ebert's reviews. Finding the original the best of the three aside, everything he said, I agree on.

In my opinion this is the best of the trilogy. Funny. :)

The first is the best. This one got ruined by the annoying kid and too much of Evie and Rick's lovey dovey moments. Inhoptep wasn't as appealing as the scary supernatural foe. I wish only one or two years had gone by in their lives from the events in the first movie. I don't think it's awful. It's still a passable adventure movie, but just no where as good as the first. The third one is the worst.

In my opinion the first one and this one are equally good, although (despite of the annoying kid) I'd prefer this one over the first one since it even felt a little more like a non-stop rollercoaster ride than the first one. It managed to entertain me more than the first one. Third one is the worst.

i haven't seen the first movie since i was a kid and don't remember much of it, but i thought some of the special effects in this were like a cartoon, and i liked the third alot better, it seemed to have more diversity and better special effects.

new paint and new lives,
as in dream i walk on the ghostly grounds,
through the hard times,
you make me smile for a while,
i was praying you'd stick around,
and bring colour and life,
but now you're just an echo from behind,
another dim memory haunting my mind.

Disagree I watched all three of them today and I must say that Part 3 is the absolute worst of the bunch unfunny, schmaltzy & childish it was.
Part 2 while I don't think it's great is a fine film.
