Ok, seriously I do not get why there's such a low rating of 6.3 on What Women Want. I would say this gets at least a 7.5. This movie I thought was great! It was put together nice and it had some great actors. Gibson and Hunt were great together and did some good acting. Plus it was very funny at parts and had some good romance to it. I highly recommend it to anyone that wants some laughs and good entertainment.
It's actually one of the better romantic comedy's of the decade, the script is great at taking the cliches and making them feel fresh, plus the chemistry is beyond fantastic.
The Biggest Reason Why this other Movies get the shaft with low rating is because People my not like Ex. Mel Gubson so they just give the movie a 1 & it herts the rating. The other reason is this movie is nearly 10 years old & it has a little over 50,000 votes which is very low number for good comedy that is about 10 years old. This Movie is one of many that don't have enough votes for how old the movie is. Millions visit this web site a month & don't vote. Their is only about 10 movies that a vote count over 250,000 & only 2 over 400,000 The Dark Knight=just over 400,000 which is hight for just 2 years old & The Shawshank Redemption=about 460,000 which is low for a movie that is nearly 15 years old. If you think about it The shawshank Redemption should have over 1,000,000 votes.
I'm surprised it hasn't got a much lower score to be honest, this is one of the most nauseatingly awful films I have ever seen. Each to their own I guess.
This is one of the freshest, smartest, cleverest, best-looking, well-written movies I've ever seen. It has all the charm of the films of Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. It's Old School. It's solid.

I agree; and Mel's dance scene is worth a 10 alone. It's better than 90% of romantic comedies today. Loved Helen Hunts story-line, and the other stories mingled in. I wish we could have seen what happened the next day, but he owned up to her and they made up. It's super-sweet in every way.
Mel, Helen, and Marisa, were all fantastic.

Precisely!
Unfortunately, this is probably one of the few, if last of the romantic comedies that were actually worth watching before Hollywood started churning out utter crap sometime after this movie was released.
I would say Can't Buy Me Love (1987), Say Anything... (1989), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), The Bridges of Madison County (1995), You've Got Mail (1998), and, of course, this film, were the greatest rom-coms of their time. Anything produced after 2000 just seemed like movie studios doing anything for the almighty dollar.
I certainly agree that 6.3 is inappropriately high. After forcing myself to endure about 1/2 of this utter drivel I generously awarded it a 2 and quit.
Only two things are actually knowable: It is now and you are here. All else is merely a belief.
Embarrassing movie for some of those actors and certainly for the screenwriter. There were a few laughs here and there to keep it from descending down to a 2 or 1, but I couldn't go higher than 4. Way too pat-Hollywood-cutsie romcom.
Somehow this movie works for me. i've identified it as a comfort film to friends. first, I live in Chicago where it was filmed. I know the locations. Also, I actually watched Gibson film a scene jogging on the lakefront with an extra.
Otherwise, Gibson looks good. Helen Hunt looks good. The music is good. This is a prelude to other films where knew of them look good. Who knows why? Frank S.
