Why the sequels/prequels were unsuccessful
They were confused by the title of the original to think it was about exorcism.

As in why do you say this, and for what reason.
'Cause the original is really about a young girl saying and doing naughty things.
shareShe 'says and does naughty things' because she was possessed by a demon. And they had to call on two priests to perform an exorcism. Hence the title of the movie. The Exorcist.
