Lukas Moodysson's best film?

From this Board, Together is less loved then Moodysson's first and third *beep* Amal and Lilya 4-ever(both great films) but for me together is the film that brightens up my day anytime i watch it and probably has Moodysson's best writing and best tender moments. From the performances to the use of Abba and swedish rock from the 70's, its a great film.

so to anyone who's seen Lukas's films is this his Greatest film?

Yes.

I have it recorded and have been meaning to get to it for a good month already. I was a big fan of Show Me Love, which I thought was brilliant. I thought it was a beautiful, honest piece of work and I have high hopes for this one. Once I see it, I'll come back to this and update.

And I'd have to say that I thought it was excellent, very well done. I will add however, that I did not like it as much as I did Show Me Love. Together was made up of a wonderful ensemble cast with very vivid characters that unfortunately, were great to see at some points and underwritten at others.

Despite this, the dialog is wonderful - it is very strong (probably the best aspect of the film) as the various themes of love, companionship (and of course, togetherness) were explored in such lively, vivid ways.

There is a dark tone to the film that one expects to see more of but this is where the underwritten aspects of the screenplay come in; overall, while uneven at parts, it is definitely one of Moodyson's better works and I have been very impressed by him and his work thus far.

I liked this less than both of them films but still thought it was fantastic, however the other two films I would say are masterpieces

This movie is no doubt a masterpiece, but Moodysson's best would be Amal. That movie stayed with me for a long time and is one of the greatest coming of age movie of all time.

This one was excellent but it didn't stay with me forever (more "light"). However I do rewatch this every other year since its fun and touching at the same time.

Lilya is another gem but is very hard to watch, I haven't dared to rewatch it since I first saw it years ago but I do remember the feeling it left in me.

Tillsamanns is in a strange position in Moodyssons film canon. It's always been overshadowed by Moodysson's debut Fucking Amal and by his heartbreaking third feature Lilya 4 ever. Although I remember at the time it was a critical hit and got into a lot of critics top 10 of the year lists back in 2000, and Moodysson has done two of my favorite endings the one in Amal and the other for this film with Abba's "S.O.S" been played on the soundtrack as the rag tag family play football in the snow.

I wouldn't disagree with anyone who would chose it as their favorite Moodysson film. It's held up well 18 years on.
