Who is the Sexy Beast???

But who do we think is the actual Sexy Beast of the title?? Is it Gal or Don?

Teddy is actually the sexy beast, or least a signifier of it. You'll notice that the film holds many subtle homo eroticism in the film between the characters. Such as Don and Gal's disjointed conversation about Jackie and her sexual acts with Don at the bar. Or all those men half-nude in a pool drilling together. Or Teddy getting screwed from behind in the shower to the Orgy. There's very subtle sexual tension and moments within the film that boosts the meaning of the title interchanged through the theme of Gal's Journey and change of character.

The rabbit has duel meanings; it is a symbol of fertility and Rebirth in British Mythology. You can parallel this notion to Gal's change of lifestyle from criminal to an everyday man, out of shape, civilian living in the torrid, peachy villa with a loving wife. His new-found life in Spain is a metaphorical rebirth of a person. With his criminal life past him.
Remember Aitch hunting the rabbit? Where the camera slowly pans up closely and slow-motions it to the rabbit running away is a subtle indication of the criminal lifestyle Gal was once embroiled in for those years to come. It's a wild, lawless world where anyone can be hunted for whatever monetary or emotional reason. However, the Rabbit also has another duality behind it. The Deformed Rabbit in his dream is a personification of the wild, dangerous and sleak lifestyle of his former past in the bleak UK underworld of crime. It's a ticking time bomb to what Gal is yet to face - backing into his default lifestyle once more. When we see Teddy walking in the diner the camera interchangeably shifts to the Rabbit Monster's arm. Teddy is the quintessential signifier of the nature of Gal's former life pre-Rebirth. Dangerous, brutal, ugly (on the inside), and grim with a facade of the upper-lashed lifestyle filled with hedonistic pleasures to suffice the higher-ranked criminal along with masses of wealth and prosperity and well-dressed servitude to one's master and to one's self. The Deformed Rabbit is an ironic and warped signifier of Rebirth and the grim reality of Gal's past life.

Gal and Teddy run parallel with one another but at opposite sides of the same coin. Teddy embraces the criminal lifestyle and is filled with the hedonistic pleasures of its effect; and Gal embraces the contempt pleasures of his former lifestyle (through money) yet lives as a civilian.

In conclusion, Teddy would be the core portrayal of the archetypical Sexy Beast. It is not a person, per say, but an idea. The idea is personified through an animal as a medium.

I think its referring to Gal during his criminal lifestyle prior to his prison time, who was described by Don as Handsome with a great physique (and all the girls couldn't get enough). The opening scene has the words sexy beast over Gals crotch. Gal is the sexy beast.

Right on.

I always thought the sexy beast is Jackie. She's a "beast" to both Don and Gal in the sense that she is the main (hidden) reason Don is attracted to the villa.

Thus she is the ultimate reason why Don dies, why Enrique is almost killed, and why Gal is almost killed and then forced to travel to Teddy to take up the job. Then he's almost killed again by Teddy.
So in retrospect, Jackie is the doom of several people, a "sexy beast".

I believe that Gal is the sexy beast. He is advertised as such (in the movie poster), thinks of himself as beautiful despite being a bit portly, and was definitely a beast back then (he was implied to be a "hard man" of sorts before retiring to life as a civilian).

I have been asking myself that question for 10 years. Still don't know.

I thought it was Dan Logan.

That's just it. You say Logan (others jokingly [I hope] say that crazy rabbit) I always thought it was Gal. Nothing sexy about Logan to me, though he was expertly played by Ben Kinsley, who I love. Logan was just plan scary. No, Gal was sexy from the start, frying in oil, in the sun, in his bikini trunks. And as a woman, I can tell you, whether you trim and fit or not, the way a man carries himself, aka Gal, can make a man sexy.
