Hitting girls in the face
Would any guys here hit a girl in the face if they were mouthing off like Sarah Silverman's character was doing in this film?

shareWell, I wouldn't assault anybody as matter of principle and practicality, especially not over words.
However, she got what she deserved.
Hitting an unruly chick who thinks she can get away with anything right in the snotbox is one of the most satisfying feelings ever. I know if i'm talking sht to a man there's a good chance he'll try to kick my azz. Women need to realize this applies to them as well.

I think you may have miss the point of that scene being added. The scene it seems to me was added to kinda downplay the two criminals abilities. As to lower the bar of expectations to make them seem more professional as the movie continued.

I'm sure this has been said before, but it demands repetition:
She doesn't have to be mouthing off.
She just has to be Sarah Silverman.
Pfft. I'd have socked her in the face long before Parker did.
I don't necessarily advocate violence against women, me being a woman and all, but I know better than to just start *beep* If I'm doing/saying something that I know could get me hit, I shut the *beep* up. Otherwise I'll be taking what's coming to me.
But then again, I'm nearly six feet tall. I could hold my own well enough if I felt I had to.
im all for equal rights, and women that want equality, benefits etc they should also be prepared to have the same consequences as men. and yes i would of socked her right in her jaw if she was talking to me like that, dont give a *beep* if your a man, woman or jesus himself id knock the *beep* out of you. and i love all these white knight beta faggets saying stuff like "hitting woman is a cowardly act" or "my mama told me never to hit a woman" looool stfu you white knight *beep*
shareI like Christopher McQuarrie's explaination about that scene. He said that there was a dog park where he and his friends would walk their dogs, and then one day people started showing up without dogs and just started treating it like any other park. They would start to get mad when the dog-owners' dogs would steal their frisbees and at one point there was almost a big fight between them all.
Supposedly his friend told them that if anything goes down, that they should punch the frisbee players' girlfriends first, because no matter what, they're going to get their asses kicked. But if you hit their girlfriends, the girlfriends will never shut up about it, and it would be a completely hollow victory for the men who would have to deal with that.
That's actually a good idea, and I would do that now.

Good question.
I probably wouldn't (unfortunately).
I never did and probably never will unless I am being attacked by a woman and it's really a situation of self-defense. That being said, in the context of the movie, it was both surprising and outrageously funny in a sick way but of course but they purposely built the scene that way giving that Silverman's character was just so damn annoying and irritating. I really enjoyed the scene, as it is fiction, and the whole movie.I would never condone that in real life though; people like Silverman's character would not even be worth my energy nor my anger since they are so laughable and immature.
Bill Foster: I'm the bad guy?...How did that happen?
It's easy to understand why she got hit, but at the same time they were being disrespectful in the first place by sitting on the hood of a stranger's car and refusing to get off when asked. So, to answer the question, I would hit a girl in the face if she was behaving like Sarah Silverman's character and I hadn't done anything to provoke her behavior. In the case of this scene in the film, however, the characters certainly did provoke SS's mouthing off. So I can't justify her being punched in the face (although she was being incredibly irritating).
sharelol. I was thinking the same thing. Wouldn't hit a girl, but I don't think Sarah Silverman really qualifies. Especially in this case. Oddly, I've actually been in a situation kind of similar to that where I was accosted by 4 guys and a couple of girls when I was driving my little sister and some cousins home after some ice cream. I ended up securing the kids in the car, but the girls got into my car and it took almost an hour to get them out.
In hindsight, there are so many things I would have done differently if the me of today was there in my 17 year old body (I might add, 17 yr old bodybuilder body who could toss around 100lbs like it was nothing and 200lbs without much difficulty). Might have gotten interesting if it had gone from a 4:1 to a 6:1 with the girls involved.
I once scored a touchdown in 2v1 aussie rules football going basically the entire field with a 140lb guy wrapped around my neck and 165lb guy wrapped around my leg, both trying to shake me down, just walking abt 40 yds dragging them along. How much more fun would that have been with 4 skinny 16 yr old boys at abt 120lbs each and their 90lb girlfriends.
O' the fun we could have had.
I got to thinking and wouldn't it have been hilarious if the guy just said "screw it" because she was getting so annoying on the way up and as soon as he got there just said "hey guys look. I'd appreciate it if you didn't touch my car, but my girlfriend here has a little something extra to say to you."
Then walked back to the thing they were standing in line for. Without her.
The car probably still would've gotten scratched, but at least I'd know where the bitch lived. ;)
WTF?! Are you seriously trying to say that some insulting words are as bad as PHYSICAL ATTACK?! All of you posting on this thread are freaking retarded. A so-called ''man'' that punches a girl in the face (just because she insulted him) is a pussy. Actually, real men would never punch / beat a girl, much less try to find ''excuses'' or brag about it. Period.
