I've just watched this again πŸ‘»πŸ’€

I was 12 when this aired and it scared the shit out of me. I'm 41 soon and I still found it creepy.

The acting by the family is a bit dodgy to see now but at the time we all thought it was real.
Especially with Michael Parkinson and Sarah Greene - they were two of the best loved presenters at the time this was made. You just trusted them.

I'm glad I got to see it again.

A bit of trivia .... this was the first time in history that PTSD was diagnosed in children directly linked to a TV show or film.

For those outside the UK or just too young to remember, at the time we only had 4 tv channels and so a wide choice of programmes and films were limited. This was like nothing we had ever seen before, and because we thought it was a real live event it just terrified the nation!

i caught this a few years ago when it was briefly on shudder, and thought it was pretty cool, but i wasn't totally won over by it. i know that's it's loved by lots of uk people though, and i've always wanted to give it another chance. it never seems to pop up on any other streaming services, though... do you know if it's streaming anywhere?

I watched this when it was first broadcast. Hoped for years afterwards that they'd show it again, but of course they didn't. Bought the DVD some years back though, and I pop it on most Halloweens.
