is the least charismatic and appealing of most all the actresses in this movie, yet she is the lead. Normally, this would be one of those "turn your brain off and enjoy" movies. But she bugs me so bad, she ruins it for me. Anyone else feel the same way?

I highly disagree, because in fact she was the complete opposite. She was far more charismatic than the others and far more affable.

Nope. I think she's perfect in this film. I agree this is a "turn your brain ..." type of film but the fact people are still watching and enjoying it 19 year later means they did something right.
shareI think you are missing the point. She is supposed to be nervous, shy, lacking confidence and a bit of a contradiction as she has more guts than she thinks she does.
The other characters are more one dimensional stereotypes, boss with a heart of gold, the blonde tease, the bitch etc.
OMG That body does not stop looking smoking hot though.
