In defense of the final seasons

I find it extremly difficult to believe that they would really have had the other side win the last election and Josh would lose. Isn't the reason the story is being told at all because these people are winners? Would have flown right in the face of that.

Season Seven was one of the best.

I haven't started watching this yet. I've been curious for years. Is there a peak season or jump the shark moment I should be aware of?

There's a bit of a dip after the end of season 5 when Aaron Sorkin left, but it picks up again with season 7.

It roughly followed reality in an analogous fashion in fictional form. The country has swung to the right irrationally in my opinion. The working class is duped to favor Republicans who never gave a damn about workers except to screw them over, or to prefer and favor white connected folks.
