Did this show scare the crap out of anyone else?

Maybe it's just me, maybe when I was too young when I watched this show, but I remember being so scared of this show. I remember a woman woman who wore pink and she had a man with her who wore a yellow and orange jacket. He wore a straw hat and sometimes it would randomly fall off and he'd turn into a mannaquin again. That's scared me so much! I never thought to look for the show on IMBD, but am I alone here? Did anyone else feel this way as a kid.

reply

I loved this show. This show represents a time when Nickelodeon had good, quality programming.

reply

Actually, most of the shows they showed in the early days weren't original! They were mostly reruns and imports (usually from Canada and the UK)

reply

Regardless, the shows were still good. :)

Mannequins coming to life?? That's the stuff nightmares are made of. Did anyone see that Twilight Zone that had that premise? And not only that, it would then sing and dance?? Hocus Pocus Alama Gocus....creepy.

reply

I had a nightmare about the show once. There was a knife wielding murderer who killed Sam and Muffy, they were soaked in blood.

reply

there was one episode where they went into some castle and there were eyes staring through a portrait. They were looking for some kinda potion. Damn that scared me as a child.

reply

Oh man bboywannabe888! I can't believe you mentioned that! I thought maybe I was the only one who remembered that! I had nightmares about that for years upon years for some reason! And even when I just read it in your post I got chills up my spine! I can't believe more people weren't affected by that one specifically!!

reply

I find it silly anyone getting scared of this show, but I can see why people were scared of the mime lady would seem different. I think I was because the background was black, and she always wore plain white clothes would make her look ghostly of sorts.

reply

Absolutely - I'm just looking through old tv shows on here, and I can remember almost nothing about this show except the feeling of fear it arose in me. I was terrified of manequins, mimes, things coming awake in the night.

Was it sort of low budget? Nothing can creep me out the was old, low-budget TV can - something godless about it!

reply

Yeah, I have vague memories of watching this show as little kid (I'm turning 20 in April) and I can remember how Sam, the guard or whatever, used to creep the heck out of me for some reason.

reply

no this show never freaked me out once. in fact I loved watching it every night on Galaxy channel just before they went off the air at 7 o'clock, an hour before my bedtime. of course there were some people I knew who were weirded out by Jeff and Muffy (who spoke in rhyme). but still this was always considered one the best childhood shows of my age. I really wish I had the chance to get some of my favorites episodes taped when it was still quite cute. I do have a few songs on auto cassette...somewhere.

I am 23, and to this day, I am slightly creeped out by mannequins... especially ones with wigs. They could really be alive... Why did I continue to watch a show that would give me mannequin fear forever????

reply

Oh my God! haha i just looked this show up on a whim because i told my friend it used to scare me to death. The old man puppet creeped me out to no end. I literally had nightmares. I saw a picture of him on wikipedia, and he still creeps me out as much as ever!!

reply

One episode really freaked me out...all I can remember is that there was some big storm and the store was flooding (??). The computer was going to get ruined by the water...I really don't remember much about it, but I couldn't finish watching it, I was so scared!

Anyone remember this one?

Haha, trip down memory lane here!

reply

I know this comment was made nearly a year ago, but I had to reply anyway, because YES, that's the only episode I clearly remember of this show, and that scene scared the living hell out of me. LOL. Who knows why? :) Aside from that, I have all my vague and mashed up memories of the mannequin coming to life, the mouse, the magic words, and the theme song, but I couldn't tell you anything specific about the show aside from what you mentioned. It's really funny what things stick with you, isn't it?

reply

This show didn't scare me.I watched it every chance I got.My favorite one was the "X marks the spot" episode.Along with this, picture pages, pinwheel, sharon, lois and brams elephant show and reading rainbow were some of the coolest shows for little kids.

It was Waldo who kept shrinking, and Jeff, Sam, Muffy, and Jodie had to go to a castle to find and retrieve the red potion to fix him...this was the episode "Adventure".

I agree, this show was really dark and disturbing for a kids' show!

reply

Yep... I used to be scared, yet strangely drawn to it when I was little. For some reason I though of this show recently, but no one else seemed to know what I was talking about so for awhile I thought I imagined the whole thing. Glad to know I'm not crazy!

To this day, this show scares the ever living crap out of me.
