Am I like the only one who realizes what a douchebag Daniel is?
I really can't be the only one. The kid was a super douche. Tests and Breasts and I'm With the Band (just watched them both) show how bad of a friend and person he is.

shareI totally overlooked your thread, so I made one myself.
Agree with you, I had the exact same feelings. During the later episodes, though, he became a little more sympathetic in my eyes. You could see, that he genuinely wasn't able to believe in himself, which made him a more tragic figure.

One of the teachers realized what a douche bag Daniel is. I think it was Mr. Kowchevski.
Kowchevski nailed Daniel when talking to either Lindsay or another teacher
(paraphrase) - I knew plenty of guys like Daniel in Vietnam- They usually got other guys killed
He is still questioning and searching however. I remember guys from high school who had already given up or were oblivious. I remember a few dangerous guys from high school who were like that.
There were only 18 episodes filmed. I'm sure if the show went to a second season the characters of Daniel, Lindsay and their relationship would have better revealed themselves.
shareI think you're forgetting the final episode where the "humbled" Daniel hangs out with the Geeks on his free time. He seems to drop the tough guy persona, open up and befriend this group of outcasts..... true growth potential.
shareDidn't Kowchevski also say something about Daniel being attractive? It was a little inappropriate.
He didn't say that he thought Daniel was attractive, he said that Lindsay was only helping him because she thought that he was. That was wrong to say, but he was partially correct.
Everyone on this show is a douchebag, except for Sam and Bill most of the time, but even they do douchey things.
I think Nick is worse than Daniel because of the way he treats Lindsay.
*Here's a ****in' spoiler: Everybody dies.*

Isn't he supposed to be an *beep*
If not, they've done something wrong, because I never thought he was anything else.
Well apparently Franco was a douche on set so he really projected himself on it.
I don´t know... I think the real reason he didn´t ended up as Lindsay´s love interest is because of a punishment on his behaviour. There are many hints about it.
Daniel wasn't from a broken home. His father lived at home but he was suffering from some kind of illness or injury. No doubt that weighed on him. Basically I think Daniel was a good person who kept making bad decisions. He also may not have been that bright.
shareYeah, Daniel can be a jerk, and we shouldn't excuse his bad behavior. He would be an absolutely terrible guy to date. Cute? Yes. Loyal and kind? Not so much.
However, I think he had a difficult life, a sick dad, he's not particularly smart, and very few people believe that he can anything other than some guy who ends up in jail. He's been held back two years. He acts confident, but he's really insecure, and I think the final episode indicates that he wishes he could be a bit more like the geeks who are smart and confident in their own personalities and don't spend their time trying to impress other people and be cool. Or at least he wishes that he could be like Lindsey. He may have used the "Track 3" defense as a way to get out of trouble, but I think it really does bother him. He's just found a way to use it to his own advantage.
He is a dick sometimes, but he is a good friend other times.
