Why was this show cancelled?
Does anybody know why this show was cancelled so quickly? It was such a great show and I wish they would have made more episodes :(

shareWell the good thing is that Freaks and Geeks is now available for streaming on Netflix. I recently binge watched the whole series and loved it: as timely now as it was when it came out.
sharePeople don't like nice things. This show was really at the top when it ended abruptly.

If you meant at the top creatively I agree but from a ratings perspective it sunk like a stone.
shareI don't think airing on Saturday night was the problem. There were a bunch of other shows on the same night, and it rarely beat any of them. I think it was a show that was always destined to have a niche audience. There are a lot of things like that in geek culture. I can't imagine it as the kind of show that millions of people talked about at work and school the next day.
shareYou are correct. It is a niche show that would have never appealed to a broad audience. Still the best show ever though!
shareI disagree. Airing a show with an expected audience of teen kids on Saturday night is stupidity.
The teen audience is not watching NBC during prime time on Saturday.
NBC should have paired it with a show with a similar audience on another day.
I think that the problem was it was a hard draw for a lot of people in that high school was not a good time for quite a few people. Something that a lot of people do not want to be reminded of. Kind of a shame because the show to me was quite good and I spent quite a bit of time waiting for high school to be over with because of the negativity. Even people you would not suspect of having a bad time are glad that they were able to conceal their unhappiness from their former classmates.
shareI wanna say it was a type of show that couldn't draw in an audience big enough to justify keeping it on the air, i.e. Arrested Development when originally on FOX.
I was upset when they canceled it. I absolutely loved Lindsay Weir (Linda Cardellini). She was the main reason I watched, along with having an great ensemble. I also didn't mind when it came on Saturday nights, though I suspect that didn't help it in the long run.
And I can't believe it was made by Paul Feig of all people. The guy has definitely changed in recent years. He didn't even bother showing up for the reunion.
Because NBC, like the other networks, are controlled by a bunch of cowardly pinheads.
BTW I'm streaming it on Netflix now. I just watched episode one. Not bad. Interesting to see James Franco, Seth Rogan and Jason Segel when they were so young.
