Other good vampire movies?

What are some other good vampire movies like this?

reply

Blade II is the best vampire movie ever (so far) IMHO, so there are no other good vampire movies like this (again IMHO).

But how about From Dust 'til Dawn (1 and 2) ? I've not seen The Hangman's Daughter, so does anyone have an opinion on this?

I still get a kick out of the Bela Lugosi Dracula - less gore but a more complex vampire.

Depends what you want in a vampire movie. Personally my favourites are Nosferatu (I'm not scared of vampires, but damn that is one creepy dude) and Interview With A Vampire.

Stay away from any Wes Craven movies.

reply

What the hell do you mean, stay away from any Wes Craven movies? Wes Craven is the bomb, did you not see A Nightmare on Elm Street?

I don't lie. I willfully participate in the campaign of misinformation.

Interview with a Vampire - but this one is more story and less action.
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Queen of the Damned
30 Days of Night
Underworld 1 and 2

OMG! I'm sorry how on Earth can you list Queen of the Damned as a good vampire film or a good movie in general for that matter. It always upsets me to think about Aaliyah being in that trash before her untimely death.

The other three are really bad too.

reply

As far as cinematic perfection, it sure isn't. As far as an interesting depiction of a vampire, I like Stewart Townsend.

Vampire Hunter D and VHD: Bloodlust are the best movies for blade fans ^_^

underworld is crap in comparison

Fright Night.

reply

I guess Underworld and Underworld Evolution are the most like this film. more in the action genre than horror.

I like Near Dark. The Forsaken is kinda of a lame rip-off of it. Fright Night 1 and 2 are a lot of fun too

reply

If you want a fun one, watch Once Bitten. It is an early Jim Carry movie and a Great one if you want a good laugh!

Live for today, tomorrow might never come.

Not necessarily a good vampire movie, but MODERN VAMPIRES is pretty funny and good in its own right. There's a few things that might make a person scratch their head, but since I am steeped in vampire lore I was able to get it. There are many, many vampire myths from all around the world. I forget the country, but there is one vampire that attacks when a person is sleeping and sucks the blood from their victim's toe. Weird, yes. Just as there are many myths on HOW a vampire can be created. I believe that in China it is if a cat jumps over a dead person's body. We've just become used to the American stylized vampire- fangs, biting the neck and all that. For an interesting look into it all, try Googling vampires across the globe or vampires around the world. There are also some really good books that talk about all the many kinds of vampires- my favorite is the Vampire Encyclopedia.

reply

It's real vampire bats that bite the toe of sleeping victims. Therefore, not a myth.

He's a semi-aquatic, egg-laying, mammal of action

reply

steven, i was referring to the myth as to HOW a vampire is made in that country's belief, sorry if i didn't make that part clear when i wrote it...
