Is the show still relevant and funny?

Is the show still funny? And if you're a hardcore fan please don't comment on nostalgia. I just want to know from people who have just started watching the show and have an impartial opinion on the series.

ps: I didn't mean to exclude hardcore fans what I mean is to find out if today the show still holds its own.
thanks..

I definitely think the show holds up and is still hilarious to this day. Unlike some other shows that have quite a bit of "reference" based humor (though this show has many different kinds of humor, the references are a large part of that), most of the references are to things that are iconic, and therefore haven't aged, so that's part of why it's still "relevant", and the characters are so lovable and memorable so no matter how many times I watch the show, they never age.

One thing people watching the show today may not like is that it's very easy to see just by looking at a few screencaps that the show didn't have the highest budget, but the talent is definitely there (if you're familiar with Edgar Wright's later work you really see his recognizable directorial traits begin to sprout here), and the writing is some of the funniest/wittiest I have ever seen.

I may be what you consider a "hardcore fan" because Spaced is my all time favorite television show (and I've seen a lot of TV shows) but I only discovered it sometime last year or the year before (I don't really remember) so nostalgia is not particularly involved in my love for the show.

I thought that series one was hilarious and I loved it, but series two was just spoofs and refrences and it is not nearly as funny as the first series.

Funny is a subjective thing. It's sad that some people have to base their decisions in life on what other people think.

Just finished both seasons, thought it was thoroughly enjoyable. I'm not even British! (okay that sounded a little unnecessary ... but it does make a difference).

Never found Pegg's stuff the 'laugh-till-gasping-for-air' type, just funny here and there yet entertaining and enjoyable throughout.

I'm not british either. i have been to london though. but there were at least 5 times i actually laughed. the slow mo gun fight, i had to rewatch it. daisy finding them doing it and being speechless, and tim going back to normal less than a second after she spoke to him. that was a pretty good scene. and the scene where brian knocks himself out in his exhibit.

I am British and roughly the right age group, and can safely say it's still the best UK sitcom I've ever seen.

Me and my girlfriend saw the whole series for the first time last December. We both thought it was a funny, witty and likeable TV show.

The characters are very likeable, and the situations are so entertaining. Pop culture references are usually thrown cleverly, and the direction style is flawless.

I got interested in it because I'm a big fan of the Cornetto trilogy, and when I found out Edgar Wright had directed a sitcom with Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, I had to watch it.

I think season 2 was better, but they were both really cool.

I binged on both series in about a day, would have been about a few months ago now, and I felt a lot of it resonates to what I've gone through recently as a young adult - struggling along for a flat, a job, benefits. So I'd say it's still totally relevant, and as for funny, I'd also say yes. It's classic Pegg, Frost, and Wright, also Hynes.
It's surprisingly nuanced and layered sometimes and you find new things with each re-watch. And it does keep me watching again and again.
Also there's more awesome pop culture/Sci-fi references than you can shake a stick at!

Jar Jar Binks makes the Ewoks look like *beep* Shaft!

the themes in the show will always be relevant. Young adults will always end up in a situation where they struggle.
People will always have problems with where they live, it is inevitable.
