I guess that song is the "good old usa' song that sums up america in a romantic kinda way (dad on the porch drinking Budweiser, harley davidson, baseball, etc.)
This movie seems to have been written by someone who idolized the 60s and americana.
There were plenty of other songs I would have used instead but the Garth Brooks song was OK.
