Well, for years I've had the conviction that BE is so bad to not bother with it.
(it looked quite bad judging from the trailer).
But hey, I finally gave it the benefit of the doubt and - providing you're willing to 'plough' through the first 40 mins - it wasn't all that bad really.
I wanted to have an informed opinion, so I could substantiate the "why" next time it's a topic somewhere.
So it was a bit of a shock to find that this movie was quite OK. Perhaps some dumb stuff here and there, but overall it entertained me.
And that's what counts : it entertained. I've started watching movies that were raved on about sooo much and that turned out to be complete dissapointments.
Battlefield Earth couldn't possibly dissapoint since I was only wathing to confirm its banale content.

I'll be urging people to give it a chance at least, next time it's mentioned in a conversation........

Humans being dominated by some other species. Like Planet of the Apes??? Which would you rather watch?

I do agree it would be interesting/a challenge to see a quality flick based on the major theme/plots of this movie ((don't know about the book)).

Special effects were good. Aliens being motivated by the same things we are etc.

............Its just a movie.

Another bad movie I just watched and found it ok==John Carter. Are special effects getting so cheap to put on the screen?

Maybe I just really hate car chases, exploding gasoline bombs, 100 pound girls beating up 300 Pound Linebackers, any other kind of "Magic," and sword fights if its not the Three Musketeers?

Nah, it's not that bad. At least not worst movie of all time worthy. Even in its own genre. Not including Syfy movies, there's no way one can think this movie is worse than the first AVP or Starship Troopers 2 or 3 (really even 1, which most of us love BECAUSE it's so bad), honestly, even Prometheus. That movie was so freakin' cheesy, it was full of what should have been "obvious" decisions that were drawn out and made pointless for the sake of drama.

Mind shattering? Not. At. All. Entertaining? I thought so. Don't look at it as a historical drama or political satire on where man is going or any crap like that. It's just another cgi sci-fi film. Watch it or don't.

It bears repeating. if you liked the book then watched the movie...compared to the movie it's pat would be a masterpiece.

Take the e-meter off your sac and be objective. So much is wrong with this movie as a drama/adventure, it makes for an epic accidental comedy.

Could you mention a few films worse than BE?

If you thought it would be planet 9 type of bad, you were probably let down a little. But compare it to sci fi from the same year; Pitch Black and AI. BE is like a school play with CGI in comparison.
