*beep* I was hoping this movie got a 6.5 or 6.8 I gave it 8 this movie was hilarious Jim Carrey Movies (the ones that are comedys) are definetly always funny...this and Liar Liar, and Bruce Almighty were funny as *beep* and I got shoked by seeing the rating...too low...6.1 in a hilarious movie like this one...

shareWell, to each his own tastes, I guess. I thought it had hilarious moments, but was in general a very uneven movie.
Sometimes mr. Carrey nails the jokes spot-on. And other times his over-acting just gets... ...too much, I think. Although I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what it is, that makes it work when it does, and fails to do so when it doesn't.
The movie in general, I think, would have benefitted from the director's deciding what movie they wanted to make. It's like they try to deliver a quirky psychological study, a slap-stick comedy, a crime story and a lot of other genres all at once. None of them really succeeds.
I gave it a 6.
I have to agree, joaoiria2. While not perfect (not as good as the Farally Brothers' "There's Something about Mary", which I think is one of the best comedies ever made), this movie made me laugh, and laugh a lot. Isn't that what a comedy is supposed to do? I also thought the plot was interesting enough so as to not rely totally on site gags; and the ending, though somewhat cliched & contrived, still put a smile on my face (I guess I like the old Hollywood formula once in awhile). This movie took enough hits from the critics (probably for a lot of the same reasons given by Prutnume), so I would not be critical of anyone's opinion, but why get hung up on what kind of movie this is or it isn't? Its a slapstick comedy about a guy with a funny psychological condition and a pretty girl on the run from some very bad men. And for that, I give it an 8 -- really a 7.5, but I'll give the benefit of the doubt since we cannot use half points.

I agree with joaoiria, this movie is better than a 6.1. However, I've found that a lot of people don't "get" this movie. They think it's dumb or something. Few people agree with me when I say that this is one of Carrey's best movies.
Is it possible for one to "get" this movie and still not find it funny?
Or is it only when you find it funny that you actually "get" it?

Every time I watch this movie, I laugh my ___ off. 6.1 is not what this deserves, because I said. I gave it a 9. GOOD comedies are hard to find IMO, there are so many stupid ones, but this one is near perfect.

Screw what other people n critics think. I personally think this is a hillarious movie and it doesnt matter if i've seen it over 20 times i'll still laugh at it and that is all that matters.
Sometimes I just wished Jim Carrey does more quality comedies like this one before age catches up with him and his rubber face loses some of its elasticity. This guy has some serious talent and I never get bored watching his movies over and over and over and over again. He is probably the best white comedian around today in this century, if not the next.
