Family Guy: that's it, I'm done

Family Guy at one point in time was the funniest thing I had ever seen in my entire life. For years now, people have been saying that it sucks now and is a shell of its former self like The Simpsons. However, I always stood up for it because even though it wasn't as good as it used to be, I would still get a laugh or two from each episode.

About 10 years ago, I completely gave up on the Simpsons because I would go entire seasons without even a chuckle, but kept watching out of habit. I eventually decided to just stop wasting my time. Now, Family Guy has done the same thing. This entire current season, I have not laughed at one single joke. It has felt like a chore to watch every week.

Last night's episode was the final straw. I just tried to watch it on the dvr and it was complete crap.

First off, they did the same exact thing that Simpsons did with "That 90's Show" or whatever the actual episode was titled. We have already gotten the story of how Peter and Lois got together, but now the story is completely thrown out the window. I realize continuity isn't a huge part of the show, but the original story of how Peter and Lois got together was the reasoning behind the relationship Lois had with her parents, and why Peter had such a bad relationship with Lois's parents.

Secondly, doing a Friends parody in 2019 is not exactly cutting edge comedy. The comedy era of making fun of how ridiculous the 90's were has long since come and gone.

Third, it was simply not funny. The joke about Peter mistaking a concert featuring Korn, The Cranberries, and Cake for a feast of some type was stupid. In fact, every joke about the 90's was stupid.

This was so bad that I did something I've never done in the 20 year history or Family Guy: turn off the episode and delete it before I even finished it. I have been literally watching since the show first started, and I will not be watching next week. I have spent money on Family Guy merch, etc. and I never thought this day would come.

I don't really know what I expect out of this thread, or even if I really have an actual point of some type to make. I just wanted to vent about it somewhere.

The last 'Friends' episode was loaded with plenty of laughs, surprising.

I with Seth would take a look at the first several seasons and see what made those so spectacularly funny, successful, and sometimes controversial, because that is what we want more of.

Family Guy is still a far cry from the borefest that is basically the latest 20 seasons of The Simpsons.

I'm pretty behind on it, i'll have to marathon the recent few seasons sometime.
