Why is Brian such a loser now? :(

Back when the show first started, he was one of the smartest. Now he is just a shallow, lazy failed author who chose to give up & live the superficial life & lying to pretty women to get laid.

What makes him any better than Quagmire? I lost my respect for Brian & he used to be one of my favorites. :(

All the writers suck that's what happened.

Brian has definitely hit rock bottom. I feel bad he can't keep a girlfriend.

I feel bad for Stewie, it seems like he's always babysitting Brian lately when it comes to all his drinking and lady lusting. Also the recent episode where Brian determindly goes for a group of high school girls while Stewie tries to stop him seems quite out of Brian's character to me. He's too desperate now.

reply

He doesn't deserve a girlfriend. He has no redeemable qualities.

And Brian has always been my favorite character

Not only a loser but a moron. In The Road to India, he was really stupid. Jiminy Cricket we all know is a Disney character and Brian thinks he is based on a real person? Seriously?!! His I.Q. is going down.

The tumor must be growing back.

He used to be a favorite of mine but not anymore.

It probably has to do with the episode when Brian got killed. The fans reacted very bad to it, and wanted him back. I think that was the only reason they did bring him back, because of the fan pressure. I suppose the producers thought that Brian got too far ahead of everyone else in terms of "favourite characters" and they are trying to change that now.
That was literally the point where his character turned 180 degrees, in a very abrupt manner, and without any context to it. I see it something like "Oh, you want Brian back so bad huh? Well *beep* you guys, there he is!"

The fan reaction had nothing to do with Brian returning two episodes later. He would have been back if the fans loved him dead, hated him dead or didn't care in the slightest.

The production codes show a three episode arc [BACX05|BACX06|BACX07] plus Brian's return was Season 12's Christmas episode so he was always coming back when he did.

Besides, think about it, it takes anywhere from eight months to a year to create one episode, if they planned on killing Brian off for good, there's simply no way they could have written, created and aired his return episode three weeks later based on fan reaction without... you know... bending the fabric of space & time.

I liked it much, much better when Brian was a mildly alcoholic intellectual. This thing they have now where he fails at everything, and is pretty much a loser in every way...I don't like it. Out of all of the character changes, this one bothers me most. It wouldn't be as bad if there was some sort of arc that made him this way, but nope. And that goes to show how weak the writers are.

Of all the characters I think Brian has become the most unlikable Chris is the only one who is completely likeable

A lot of the characters have become a lot more over the top as the series has progressed. Stewie cross-dresses and makes never ending gay jokes instead of being a purely evil villain, Peter has become more negligent and irresponsible, Meg has changed from a stereotypical teenager to a one-note joke of a punching bag, Lois has gone from a housewife with some edge to her to a condescending and nasty person. Joe has also become more of a loser rather than the self-confident character when introduced.

Trusting someone...means relying on them and only the weak do that.
