Why do Trey Parker & Matt Stone hate Seth MacFarlane?

Why don't they get along, they made fun of Family Guy on South Park. What's the reason of the feud

reply

There's no feud and it's not that they 'don't get along'. He's never met Matt & Trey.
They don't like Family Guy because they don't like the humor & hate being compared to it.

reply

The feud is really between the fans of both shows tbh.

reply

Yeah those South Park fans are such dicks to Family Guy fans

reply

True but family guy needs to step up to the plate to stay relevant though imo.

reply

Well Family Guy & South Park fans are like Red Sox & Yankee fans and Cardinals & Cubs fans they all hate eachother

reply

Mostly imo. I'm a fan of both shows. I'm saying that Family guy needs more maturer satire to completely stand on its own path for the first time in years.

reply

Plus the show has many haters like the ptc, that dumbass critic mr.enter and his idiotic followers, and other online reviewers who personally the show since day one.

reply

Alec Sulkin is working to improve the show maybe he'll get back at Trey & Matt for ripping on Family Guy

It's been a decade since Cartoon Wars, everyone involved have moved on so there's no reason to 'get back', besides, FG agreed with SP's assessment of their cutaways. They don't have anything to do with the plot. They're just there to be funny.

reply

True but Seth needs to show some backbone of stronger controversial messages to get his point across.

reply

Why are they never funny then?

A WHALE IN A WALRUS STORE! (cut away)...that's not humor. That's get this crap off of the TV type of stuff.

reply

What they really need to do is release that image of Mohammed already because is long overdue. That's the only way to completely redeem themselves.

reply

The show needs updated topics like the Samsung Galaxy s10, the ps6, the Xbox 2s, and other futuristic gadgets to keep up with the trends.

reply

Maybe the show can be fixed and do more relevant topics

reply

Yeah if people stop bitching about everything.

I agree it would be nice if people stop 'bitching' about how Seth needs to show backbone & step up to the plate to stay relevant & how they need more controversial messages. Not to mention saying things that have no real meaning like going beyond multidimensional or the characters having three-dimensional depthness or how the show needs to completely stand on its own path for the first time in years.

reply

KYLE-D I'm just saying if the show went a better direction everyone would have stopped complaining a long time ago.

KYLE-D I'm just saying if the show went a better direction everyone would have stopped complaining a long time ago.

Your posts have been about making Season 16 a direct to DVD film or turning the show into anime or 3D animation, or serializing it or turning into a action adventure car chase or murder mystery series and I don't know how many episode ideas.
They've all been about what Family Guy should do in the future not what they should have done in the past, so how exactly would changing the show now stop complaints a long time ago?

reply

I'm just saying they should try something new every once in a while.

reply

I do find it childish to hate South Park but like Family Guy and vice versa. I honestly love both shows. I don't understand why Matt and Trey seem so annoyed by South Park being compared to Family Guy.

Aerosmith watches My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

reply

I never got that either.

reply

I guess Trey and Matt think Seth's show is inferior to their show

reply

Technically they have higher reviews than family guy. So I guess FG is the one that needs to better itself again.

reply

Well if Family Guy did comeback that would shut up South Park's douchey fans

reply

You're right.

No it wouldn't. Even if FG crafted the absolutely perfect come back, it was still ten years ago. All the 'Matt-&-Trey-can-do-no-wrong' fans would harp on that to death. I can see the comments now... "It took them a decade to come up with that", "Matt & Trey have moved on, how pathetic FG can't" "Aww FG is still butthurt after ten years."

reply

No not get revenge I mean improve by comeback

Ahh, my mistake but even if FG did improve in some sort of palpable way, for instance, winning Outstanding Animated Program Emmy over SP, they still wouldn't acknowledge FG had gotten better.

reply

I think the family guy writers should make the cutaway gags more intelligent and relevant to increase the audience love for the show again.

reply

Me too.

reply

I respect your opinions but I don't like South Park that much mainly because I'm a redhead and was made fun of because the ginger episode, For some reason their fans(not you two) rip on Family Guy for the sake of doing it

reply

I know and respect your opinion too.

reply

Yeah, a lot of people that I know that like South Park also like Family Guy, American Dad!, etc. So while there may be some hostility between the SP & FG crew and fans, most people like both shows - myself included. The Simpsons have ripped on Seth Macfarlanes' shows as well, and they're on the same network. I think it's just friendly rivalries for the most part.

Rest In Peace Roxy 9/2/16

reply

True everyone is entitled to their own opinions but sometimes people take a lot of little things way out of context and over analyze everything which is the main problem.

reply

the not so nice South Park fans(not you guys) rip on Family Guy just because Trey & Matt hate it that's not really fair to hate on another fandom just because the creator says so

reply

It ain't just them. Some of the simpsons, American dad, and other shows fans hate family guy too.

reply

Well the Simpsons fans are more mature when they criticize Family Guy they hate it because they think it's derivative of their show, South Park fans hate Family Guy just because Trey and Matt hate it

reply

What about the American Dad fans?

reply

I don't think there as harsh

reply

Oh. Ok. Do you think family guy needs to drastically change for the better.

reply

Well it certainly can improve

reply

I believe so too. It's way too late for the simpsons though imo.

reply

I find it interesting that Matt and Trey are friends with Mike Judge and Seth is also friends with Mike Judge. Yet Matt and Trey hate Family Guy. Also, Matt and Trey have never met Seth and yet all three of them seem to get along with Mike Judge.

Aerosmith watches My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

reply

It is weird I guess mike judge takes all sides

reply

Yeah.

reply

I like both shows.

reply

I've always wondered what Matt and Trey think of American Dad

reply

Me too

reply

I think they like American Dad. It's been a very entertaining show.

I think the two shows are very different. Even though many like both (I know I do).

South Park is more structured, more "mature" in a way, it has a soft-conservative ethos running though, which is often presented as a "middle way" between radical views at the end (which I find, I must admit, somehow underhanded).

Family Guy is chaotic, it's criticizing everything, attacking all that exists, showing the worst of anything, nothing escapes being exposed as trivial, senseless, self-contradictory. In that way, it's a show about nothing, nihilistic.

While I enjoy both shows, I feel Family Guy is going to have a greater influence in the long term: it's broken new ground in the senseless, pointless, hopeless. Nothing is saved: not God, not seagulls, not heroes, not babies. I love that it just goes around with a hammer breaking everything, not caring a iota about building anything in its stead --not even a plot that makes sense.

I guess it takes a special type of person to truly enjoy FG. Someone who gets Ionesco, who can read Gertrude Stein, who enjoys singing the nonsense lyrics of "We Go Together."

reply

Well Family Guy is nowhere near as preachy as South Park, SP has a message to preach FG just be's funny for the sake of hilarity

reply

But FG deserves a better maturing structure of continuity like for example: Chris should be 16 or 17 and Stewie should be 3 or 4 by now. Seth really needs to age the characters on the show. Family Guy's satirical views have to go all out on all sides and should be unafraid to touch every subject to prove their thesis in smarter ways.

reply

[deleted]

I personally think a scene on Family Guy that mocks South Park could be Lois scolding Chris and Meg for watching South Park. I'm surprised Family Guy has never mocked South Park.

AC/DC are Bronies

reply

Hmmmm it couldn't be that Trey and Matt are actually funny, and Family Guy is just a horrible version of their show without the funny? Or that Seth McFarlane is just annoying? Or maybe they like to make fun of everything and everyone?

Probably the latter.

reply

Or maybe you just don't get the humor or understand why people still love this show no matter how old they are. Or how Family guy has the most correlation of fans than most shows.

reply

We're not here to rip on Family Guy we're here to discuss the criticism of it

reply

The reason is Family Guy, while funny, is poorly structured and is mostly just random jokes that have nothing to do with the plot. Sometimes there's not even a plot. That's why Matt and Trey hate it, it has no substance. I find both entertaining but they're right, Family guy's story structure is garbage and is more shock humor than anything really intelligent.

reply

So you want family guy to have better intelligent structure? Yeah I think FG needs new blood because it's time for them to serialize the show to build character development.
