I wouldn't even classify Wolf as a finance movie. It's more like a drug comedy / drama. So from that point of view (since I'm a finance head) I enjoyed Boiler Room better. Wolf wasn't as bad as I was expecting, however. I put it off for ages then watched it on tv long after release and some parts genuinely were quite funny etc, but still it's nothing amazing either. Boiler room has it's flaws too, but from a finance movie pov it was better. I also liked how they put a coloured (blue) filter on the screen when the scenes were in the office (same as on the matrix (with its green filter) and other movies (Fight Club has some scenes with the same effect), I like that technique). The music in Boiler Room was also good, and the storyline is entertaining etc. Overall I like it.
Anyways for others who enjoyed Boiler Room and who want to watch other finance movies you should check out 'Rogue Trader' with Ewan McGregor. I quite enjoyed that one too (went in with low expectations), and some scenes are quite funny i.e. the Ron Baker character, the board members of the bank, and what his friend tells him at the very end of the movie over the phone about what the media is saying about him etc. Good movie. So if you enjoyed Boiler Room, or particularly you're into finance, you'll enjoy this I think. Definitely underrated on IMDB imo.
