The ending saved it from being an absolute failure

I literally had to suffer through the first hour of the movie, it was so silly and forced. But somehow I was able to enjoy the last 45 minutes, and probably the main reason for that is that by then I had gotten acquainted with the characters, so I somewhat cared for them. I also have to say that the action and most of the CG was quite good, the last 15-20 minutes was especially spectacular, and I think the ending was pretty cool.

Still, all in all it was a pretty big let down after the awesomeness of T2. While watching T1 and T2 you have the sense that James Cameron had a vision, and the movies were born out of that vision, with T3 the overall feeling was that they just wanted to make another sequel for the franchise to make more money out of it.

I gave it a 6/10.

Anyone else had a similar experience with the movie?

Yeah, for me the ending was surprisingly good compared to the rest of the movie.

That's true, but for me Salvation proved, that it's possible to make something that is worthy of the franchise, even if it's far from the greatness of James Cameron's movies.

I completely agree with you. I was watching this movie alone last night and still said out loud on a number of occasions "wow this movie is bad!" However I got to the end and was surprised by how satisfying the end of the movie was. Definitely not what I expected given the rest of it.

I gave it a 5/10

I admit that I can have a low bar when it comes to sci-fi because I'm just grateful to see a genre I love up on the big screen. With that in mind, I don't remember a ton about T3 except for the psychiatrist's cameo...and the ending. I really remember the ending, and thinking that it was both smart and sobering.

Agreed, I thought the ending of T3 was one of the bravest, ballsiest movie endings I've ever seen. I saw it on its opening weekend, and the theater actually applauded when the credits hit (but this is Los Angeles, that happens more often than in other cities).

I like the movie despite its flaws but Its without a doubt my favorite ending in the series.

I'm surprised to see how many people liked the ending. It's personally one of my favorite endings of all time like the first Saw: all does not end well in life and in those scenarios realistically shit is not going to go right so I find it very satisfying to see the movie go through with it. The problem is the lack of courage possibly upset fragile people who can't handle bad endings and so you get a lot of Hollywood nonsense. The only insufferable thing in this movie is Conor's incessant attempts to appeal to feelings and reason to a fuckin robot when he should know better.
