The ending makes no sense

Are you telling me there's not even ONE 'effects guy' in the audience that would look at what happened and realize it's not possible to fake it, and get curious and start researching, exploring, asking questions and so on?

I mean, shooting someone on stage so they explode would be VERY difficult to make look realistic in real life, in real time, without using some kind of expensive hologram setup system that the stage CLEARLY does not have. Also, the structural damage the spaceship would've caused the hall, would've been massive, and render many things, probably lights and such, non-functional, and the hall itself unsafe to be in.

The spaceship would be SO massive, a convention hall would be minuscule by comparison, how .... never mind, this just doesn't make any sense on any level.

Then there's the 'Jane Doe'.

Really?

They give that name out of CONVENIENCE to unidentified victims of traffic accidents, murders and whatnot.

An intergalactic group of people that have mastered space flight does not have more imagination than to use the most convenient, dull, boring, the least interesting naming system meant for DEAD PEOPLE in the world?

They have their OWN culture to draw inspiration from, they have EARTH culture to draw inspiration from, there's NO ONE FORCING THEM to use the 'Jane Doe', and yet they can't come up with anything better? WHAT?

If you could have ENDLESS possibilities for naming someone you love, WOULD YOUR REALLY NAME HER JANE DOE?! REALLY?!

In any case, movies just don't make any sense, I can't understand why. Often it's 'so the movie can happen', but this is just ridiculous.

By comparison, the rest of this movie was highly realistic

I didn't bother reading one word of what is undoubtedly a nonsensical rant.

Just wanted to say it's a PERFECT ending to a PERFECT film.

reply

Yeah. The ending was as stupid/awesome as the rest of the movie. Perfect.

This can't be serious

Yeah, there's a plot hole involving the piece of the ship that crashed into the convention, and yet nobody says a word about the fact that a real piece of the ship exists, or that the cast of the show actually flew it into the convention center. They don't mention any visit from the US govt. about it, nobody comments on it, they just go next to revealing the reboot of the show (no doubt filming inside the piece of the ship for "sets"). That part sort of bothered me.

The "Jane Doe" thing was a joke, like many things in this comedy film. Remember that the actor who fell for her wasn't very creative outside his trade. He pretty much had the attitude of a [non-drugged-up] hippie, where he was just cool with everything and rolled with it without question, no matter how ridiculous the situation got.
