I'm amazed at all of the anti-Rubin Carter sentiments on these boards

It just goes to show: some people will do anything to uncover a supposed conspiracy. I think it's laughable that people still devote their lives to finding some way to pin a guilty charge on Rubin Carter after all these years.

So what if Carter has no relationship with his family? So what if he had a messed-up past? So what? How does that make him a murderer? What so many of you have failed to come up with is pretty damned important: MOTIVE. What motive would a famous heavyweight boxer have for going into a bar and killing a bunch of random people for no apparent reason? That's ridiclous.

Yes, this movie fictionalizes a lot of things. So does every movie based on true events: At least this movie gets three things right: a) Carter was sent to prison on an unjust conviction, b) Lesra helped him get out, and c) Carter is still working today to help innocent people get out of jail. That's all I need. That's all Norman Jewison needed to make a great movie.

And for all of you still whining about this case, please: GET A LIFE. The killers are never going to be caught. Those people are dead and their families have likely gotten over it by now. This case is as old as the Zodiac case and yet it feels as old as Jack the Ripper. STOP WHINING!
