how could you not know he was a ghost
seriously... his wife never talked to him yet the audience look shocked when you realize he is dead... the film was crap, over hyped.

shareWell your example is bad - his wife does talk to him. But the real answer is "the dead see what they want to see".
shareYes crap always has been

OP is a millennial who either wasn't born yet or too young to see this movie when it first came out in theaters. Of course after years of hearing about the film, they are going to act like they could have easily figured it out all along.
Millennials are so annoying. Not only do they think nothing existed before they became aware of it, they also think they know everything and are much smarter and more clever than everyone else.
You need to do your research on generations. Millennials were born between 1979-1995 so how were they too young to remember this? I think you ate referring to the newest generation born after 1995. I'm a millennial and saw this movie in the Theaters when I was 11 so I remember this film vivildly.

Agreed. Without the twist it's your average schmaltzy Hollywood wanna-be tearjerker.
shareI figured it out relatively quickly. Gee, a guy got shot and the only person that seemed to ever react or have dialogue with him was the boy that could see ghosts. Hmmmm...
BUT..I knew there was a major twist so I was admittedly looking for something like that. If I saw it the day it premiered, I'm not so confident I would have figured it out.
The scene that sealed it for me was when Cole was in the hospital and the doctor was questinoing the mom about Cole's older wounds. His psychiatrist was supposedly sitting right there. Yet no one acknowledged him or asked for his opinion. At the very least, the medical doctor would have pulled Bruce Willis aside and bounced his concerns off him and looked for his opinion. He wouldn't just immediately call in the hospital social worker for an evaluation when the kid's very own psychiatrist was sitting 4 feet away.
I found it very odd and figured if Bruce Willis wasn't a ghost, this whole thing is pretty stupid. lol.
