The scene where he befriends the young hitch hiker...."What do you have to eat? Weiners" "Weiners"? I don;t know why, but I can take that quote a thousand places!
I liked the one at the John Deere dealership, when Alvin and the salesman are having this straight-forward, serious discussion about the tractors, and then-
Salesman: Alvin you always struck me as a smart man... Alvin: Well, I appreciate that. Salesman: ...until now.
Fave quote is when Alvin is asked what's the worst part about being old, and he replies "the worst part of being old is rememberin' when you was young" - so poignant.
when he mentions putting sticks together and you cant break them as easy as a stick on its own, regarding it as a metaphor to family. beautiful line, wish i remembered it word for word.
For comedy my favourite moment is near the beginning when Alvin is discovered on his back on the kitchen floor, his next door neighbour is in a fluster trying to call 911 and says: "We've got a stricken man here!"
Then the old fella just goes: "Alvin, are you stricken?"
Don't know why but something about that had me in stitches.
"Crimenetto it's Alvin. And he's drivin' his lawn mower!" And the scene when Rose and Dorothy are enjoying a nice glass of milk and potato chips...."What kind of pickup?" "A Ford"
Love all the lines you guys mentioned For me i like the 'bundle of sticks' quote and love how the girl left the bundle of sticks next morning. I wonder if it was a real depiction in Alvin's real life cause it's beautiful.
